8. Awesome! - 'Less than ten pro-bush supporters were on hand to counter protest'
The pictures are very powerful. It must have been an amazing feeling to be there.

Shawn Namdar, left, argues with Sylvia Benini, right, in front of an unidentified police officer, center, in Dallas on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010. A group of about 100 protestors marched to SMU, where a ground- breaking ceremony was being held for the George W. Bush Presidential Library. 19. Unfortunately, USA war crimes are bi-partisan
GWB, Cheney, Rumsfeld et al would be a good start as would joining the ICC, following the Geneva Conventions, and not playing favorites on the UN Security Council.

I have utmost respect for anti-war protesters.

In the late 60s and early 70s, we were covered by the media.

Neo-liberals are pro-military empire. This is why HRC was my last choice and I went with POTUS Obama.

Even had Gore correctly won in 2000, who knows what would had happened given Lieberman and the Pentagon and Clinton policies?

36. K & R for the message that war is wrong . . .
. . . but sorry, I don't hate the President. The last anti-war rally I went to in D.C. felt like a Teabagger gathering, except filled to the brim with "all the same"ers. There was more vitriol towards President Obama than the corporations who ran/continue to run these invasions. Events like these should be a forum for solving, not an excuse to hate.

38. I wish there was a way to have a sensible discussion with people..factually-based.
i have tried doing so in my neighborhood for going on 6 years now...to no avail.
these appear to be the only messages that actually get their attention.
I spoke to one of the members of "The Ten"

..asked him how many of his family were in Iraq.

"I have a nephew"
I pointed to the Veterans for peace Group.
"What do you think we have been protesting for?..to bring our troops home and get them the care they need...they deserve....and to leave the Iraqis and Afghanis alone...after we help them with the mess we created. What did the President ever do to support the troops?"

he actually got a tear in his eye.

...then,of course..."SUPPORT BUSH!!!GREATEST PRESIDENT EVER!"

42. My friend is a 2-tour OIF vet (now discharged) and a Democratic voter.
During his time home, the Faux-addled grizzlys at his VFW would always ask how he could be a Democrat; since, as you know, the party is perceived as military-hating. He would then school them with Republican's poor voting record on Veteran's issues, especially McCain's. Sad as it is, it's likely only a few got the message.

It was good to see at the height of the anti-war protests during 2000-2009, we had many on the IWVFP and other Vets for Peace group on our side. It lets people know that we're not all buying the "FREEDUMZ" line and that these invasions were wrong.

if you happen to visit any of the major bookstores in the next few days, please consider 'reshelving' Bush's newly released tome in a more fitting category, such as "True Crime" or "Fantasy Fiction." This is one of the most effective non-violent forms of protest I've seen of late.

One can only hope that everyone involved in the torturing that went on does not sleep well at night. And maybe always be looking over their shoulders. Watching Bush in a couple of recent interviews, he seemed extremely defensive besides arrogant. All these folks KNOW they did something wrong and believe they'll get away with it. But still....in a little corner of their minds, there may be doubt. Even if no one is ever brought up on charges, a state of worry and paranoia is a crappy way to live your life.

Dick Cheney: History "Beginning to Come Around" on Bush

At groundbreaking ceremony in Dallas for the George W. Bush Presidential Center today, former Vice President Dick Cheney said "history is beginning to come around" to a more positive view of former President George W. Bush.

Cheney said that Mr. Bush, whose approval rating upon leaving office was just 22 percent, always understood that "judgments are a little more measured" with the passage of time. He added that Americans "can tell a decent, goodhearted stand up guy when they see him."

Cheney lauded Mr. Bush as a president who refused "to put on airs," stating that he was thrilled to find that the most powerful person he knew was "among the least pretentious." He said Mr. Bush was someone who could "walk with kings, yet keep the common touch," added that "there were no affectations about him at all - he treats everyone as an equal."

He spoke admiringly of Mr. Bush's actions in the wake of the Sept. 11th attacks, telling the former president that "because you were determined to throw back the enemy, we did not suffer another 9/11 or something even worse."

54. there were only 100 reported protestors..I figure there were three times that
there were at least 45-50 there from VFP alone. The same for dallas peace.many came to see the lectures.many came and went, many couldn't get there because it was HARD to get to...and walked around the area..protesting.
and there were quite a few hosts and fans from rational Radio Dallas.
I think they low-balled the numbers on purpose.
