Palin is our fault.
I am not refering to her nomination but rather to why she is still so popular its because we willing give her so much free press that it keeps her name out there and makes her appeal to the nutjobs over on the far right even more.
After all look at past vp nominees most of them fade away largely because their names are not being mentioned so often so the only way I think we are going to really be Nailin Palin is by........................ignoring her.
That means no more articles or news stories posted anymore about her or her family should be posted on the DU or emailed to friends, even ones showing how much of an idiot we all know she.
So what do you all say, should we stop supporting her or not?

1. I've hidden dozens of Palin threads this week.
and most had to do with Bristol's dancing.............

whether we idolize them or demonize them - free press is free press.

is the only reason she's popular on the right.

4. Yesterday another DUer suggested a Palin forum -- all Palin threads go there.
Not a bad idea, even though I bristle at the idea of a forum dedicated to a mean spirited, batshit crazy woman who cares only for herself.

6. I'm not talking of her own forum, I am refering to an outright zero
tolerance ban on any stories, articles or news being posted about her or her family.

13. Which is why you created your own Palin thread
because they bother you so.

And all those who share in your dislike of the threads post their anti-thread comments and the thread is bumped, is perpetuated and not allowed to fall from page 1 into the black hole of "who cares" threads of DU.

Gotta love the silliness of this place.

21. Oh there is irony
in it I admit but its a bit hard to make a thread addressing how to perhaps get rid of her without using her name, if i had just referred to her as you-know-who most people would be scratching their heads.

if all of you complaining about Palin threads would have stayed out of it and not posted your thoughts about how annoying the threads are.

Kind of a vicious circle of annoying, ain't it.

5. DU is not the reason Palin has been kept in the public eye.
We are spit in the ocean compared to ABC/ESPN/Disney, The Learning Channel,
Fox News, the Jebus people who think Sarah is a gift from God, and so on.

But the more people see of her and her family of grifters the less they like her.

8. You speak the real truth about it. And "we" talk about it because we cannot fathom how any sane
person can consider Grifter Barbie as anything other than a complete joke.

That she was their VP nominee is the most damning piece of evidence that the Amerikan Empire is on its way out.

14. I drove by her "book signing" in 2009 and noticed that the turn out ....
.... was really not all that big but the local and national media hype around
the event was way out of proportion to the size of the crowd. Palin
is being propped up @ every turn by certain parts of the media business.

9. I said "our fault" not the DUs fault but the DU could be the place to stop her.
Havent you heard of the butterfly effect? If you have then think of it like that, it starts small but it could grow large enough so shes finally swept under the carpet as a bad memory.

30. This is at the heart of our failed politics
Just go back behind your TV set-pull the damn plug and spend your time thinking rather than have prepared instant opinions that you pick from the pull down list of the MSM. Interviewing tea baggers was the low point of my life. They just give you the talking points that were handed to them. And the small progressive media isn't that much different.
But they just represent the success of the media to in getting the public to identify with the New Improved RNC.
Hell, just like television, you don't have to think. All of your opinions are prepared for you, just follow the bouncing ball. Of course having this done instantly allows more of your time to vegetate further into TV land and spend on the important things in life-like which billionaires sports team is winning.

Eventually we all have to figure out what our own belief structure is and conform our politics to match. The MSM has made the whole thing a decision over which product to buy. The problem with that is that they control the option list.
It amazes me that Progressives gob at shit crazy over KO, who I find to be a middle of the road rich guy who is mildly entertaining, but whose politics is quite limited to traditional liberal values. The only real difference is the poor get a few more crumbs in exchange for Dem votes and the rich get a little more cake from R's.
I've voted Dem my whole life and even worked for candidates, but I have no illusions about how evil the American corporatist state really is, and know full well the Democratic Party will never be a threat to corporate power. This we have to do for ourselves, and a good start is to unplug the box and ask yourself,"What do I think?"

15. um ... how can we ignore her if she won't go away?
Probably the reason why we "give her so much free press" is because SHE'S IN THE FUCKING SPOTLIGHT WHETHER WE WANT HER TO BE OR NOT???

Did you demand that she be given "Sarah Palin's Alaska"??? Where was the market for that???

They could have hired Morgan Freemen for the voice-over work ...

16. Not even close to our fault....
...that is about the most ridiculous thing I have heard all day. This place is kinda like Vegas, what's said here pretty much stays here, so your suggestion is preposterous. It's the friggin media who gives her the attention, and we have zero control over that.
Opposition in any form is bad for her and good for us. Suggesting we not talk about her is, in my opinion....useless.

18. I was thinking about this yesterday

I don't quite get the obsession with Palin on the part of both her supporters and detractors. I guess I kind of understand it a little bit on the part of her supporters, if only because she seems to work hard to tell a certain segment of people exactly what they want to hear. But I don't get the obsession with her on the left. Someone like Jim DeMint is just as disliked by the left as Palin is, yet he gets less attention, despite the fact that what he does matters a lot more in terms of policy-making. I guess in her case tabloid culture has bled into politics to a higher degree than it has with many other figures, perhaps because she intentionally cultivates such a high profile. If she runs for president, I'll pay more attention to her. Until then, I'll try not to.

20. K&R I wish I could rec this 1000 times
Even on a site like DU everyday there are multiple threads on this women and her
dysfunctional family. Much of this has been driven by so called "liberal" media, blogs
and entertainment industry.

Why don't we all make a pact not to respond to any Palin thread for at least a week?
They simply are not that interesting. The right adores her because she is so aggravating
to the Left. they use her as a tool. Let the chaos surrounding this narcissist divide and
destroy the repuke party. In this country the worst thing that can happen is to be ignored
by the media. Don't watch it, don't click it.

#2 Yes, as I sid I am aware of the irony but as I said earlier you cant exactly talk about instituting such a boycott/ban without mentioning her name in the first place so such observations from you and others is redundant.

23. Her Popularity Has Nothing To Do With Us
It has everything to do with her looks. She's fairly attractive woman, and in the world of politics, she's "hot for the room".

The electronic media wants to cover personalities and poll results, not policy.

28. She should have been mercilessly pummeled over the "miracle 6 wk poregnancy"
but because the baby was handicapped, and the press was too afraid to pursue it, she got a pass...like W's AWOL shit.

That whole tawdry episode would have exposed her (early-on) as a liar & insurance fraudster...and removed any credibility.

But too many americans love "stories", and did not watch the '07 season of Desperate Housewives"

....I'm getting used to her, or should that be, immuned to her, and her voice....

....sarah is whacked-out just enough to be destined to high office in this country....her lack of knowledge and specifics, her fighting jabs, slick phrases and platitudes, endears her to a multitude of Americans, making the typical puke shadow government a breeze....

....Obama has no fight and is too intellectual....given a chance, sarah might take him in three rounds....ignoring her, will get us nowhere....
