Pelosi Beats Schuler by Better than 3:1

Odd that the biggest "shakeup" election of our lives (media's words, not mine) result in the exact same power structure in both parties in both houses of Congress, as Nancy Pelosi easily beat Blue Dog Heath Shuler for the Democrat's minority leader in the House.

So, what does Pelosi's win mean? Is it a good thing or a bad thing for Democrats? Is it a good thing or a bad thing for Republicans?

Democratic members. That's all it means.

I knew the Blue Dogs were 50+ (officially) prior to election night, but took a pretty good shellacking themselves. I wouldn't be surprised if 17 were how many they had left.

4. Nancy Is A Great Leader...

She is the victim of her own success...an effective speaker and was an effective Minority Leader in the ugly DeLay/Hastert years. I'm not happy to see Hoyer still hanging around, but he doesn't have as many blue dog buddies as he used to. While the GOTB claim they are glad to see their favorite punching bag still in the leadership, Nancy will cause Boner massive headaches and keep the caucus together.

1. We'll have a strong progressive leader in the House that won't just let the Republican Tea Party run rampant instead of a milquetoast blue dog accomodator.

2. GOOD THING for Democrats.

3. BAAAAAAD THING for Republicans. Their hue and cry about her becoming minority leader (as well as various pundits encouraging her to stand aside) should be proof positive that they're not looking forward to dealing with her.

The Democrats in the House, at least a vast majority of them anyway, did the right thing.

Also... I'm disturbed by the number of people who voted for a C-Pac, blue trash DINO like Shuler. Those Reps are clearly not the friends of the American people, but the bought and paid-for friends of Wall Street and corporate America.
