And not because of the TSA either. Its because I don't have any money. At least I got to tell everyone I wanted to go. That is the closest I will ever get to actually going.

2. Especially Socialist. You're un'Murkan if you refuse to borrow for the trip.
At a 29% + interest rate.

You shame us all.

7. Why would it?
Everyone (who matters) knows anything aside from America doesn't exist! And it sucks if it does exist!

3. Tramp steamers baby. Merchant marine or something like that.
My best teacher, Lester Besser, retired and went every place for almost nothing. Met his last wife there too.

BTW some of the best LA studio musicians fell under his baton in Junior High School. He was a treasure.

5. Cargo ship passenger trips are supposed to be pretty cool, but read about them first
They may not necessarily be cheaper than luxury cruises and the schedule is erratic at best since sometimes they must wait for their cargo to be unloaded, loaded and inspected.

Here is one couple's trip around the world on a freighter: http://carleli.livejournal.com/2008/04/03/ (Just one I found while looking for info - not people I know or would want to know, necessarily. Shows some real life experiences.)

More info: upscale company that does freighter cruises - http://www.freightercruises.com/

More basic, but still above basic freighter travel: http://www.freighterworld.com

4. I got almost halfway. And on Pan-Am Flight 1, the route that
used to do a round the world trip. I got from LAX to Istanbul, but the USAF decided I had to stay in Turkey. I've never had enough money to finish the trip, and Pan-Am is long gone. Pity, that.

6. I worked for Pan Am for 23 years
Air travel back then was a joy! Now all I have is this lousy pension. $165.00 a month.

8. Actually, looking into it, it was Pan Am Flight 2.
Flight 1 went West. Flight 2 went East. I flew on Flight 1 coming back from Turkey. Too bad I couldn't have finished the Flight 2 trip when I came home. Pan Am was the god of airlines back in the 1960s. I was sad to see them go.

9. I think the whole plan is to strip us of a need for things like parks etc
because we can't afford to go there or use them so then there is no reason for there to be set aside parks like Yosemite to spoil the big moneyed interest from their future ill gotten gains. These mutherfukers are after the blood that is America just as sure as I'm sitting here today. bastids all of them, no matter the strip they're all crooks, politicians right in bed with them too.
What a fucking deal we've gotten ourselves as a country in, huh
I thought us old hippies were on the right track but I guess there wasn't enough of us to make a difference after all. how sad is that

Surely it wasn't because we weren't right all those years ago
