Best picture of Americana in years: Winter's Bone
If you haven't seen/read this, please do. It's where a large portion of our population is today. Breathtaking.

2. Reminded me of Corbin, Ky.
I spent an hour there once and it felt like a month. What a depressing area!

14. The last time I played football was for the bulldogs.
Blew my knee out during homecoming and had a new girlfriend by the end of the dance. 1993. Kentucky was absolutely beautiful. I had not expected that for whatever reason. Unfortunately, my new england upbringing made the culture shock overwhelming and I did not return after my freshman year.

11. Corbin - not only the home of Colonel Sanders and the first Ky Fried Chicken -
but was known as one of the most racist towns in America. For many years, until fairly recently, no blacks were allowed to live in Corbin. There were racist signs at the edge of town.

3. My dear Tyler Durden...
Is it a movie? Ah, wait, I think it is.

Yeah, I do want to see it.

Thanks for the reminder, sweetie!

5. Both a book and a movie.
The book is even more disturbing than the movie but both have an intrinsic underlying hope. I think we'll hear more about this movie come Oscar time.
