The Emergency Unemployment Extension that was defeated today -- when
would that have gone into effect if it HAD been passed?

A friend of a friend said that her "unemployment was going to end around Christmas and the emergency unemployment won't kick in until around 4 weeks after that" -- is that the extension that was defeated today -- the one she's anticipating in for weeks or so?

Thanks!

1. I think it was intended to kick in Dec. 30, so the next 3 months' UE checks would continue.
I think the scheduling on checks varies by State. I was on UE in CA for a while and the scheduling here is every two weeks, set from your individual approval date.

2. sidenote... off topic a bit... TEN years unemployment comp in Germany
Is basic.... Last I heard, about 4 years ago.

PS Germany got nationalized health about 1880. A century ago. We are so far behind Europe in general!

Just learned that Turks retire at forty five. Bolivia just lowered retirement to 58 IIRC.

3. We are behind in EVERYTHING except we're moving up the list on the disparity
between the rich and the poor. :grr:

I never thought I'd ever even consider moving to another country - I really love America - but it seems like the odds are stacked against us these days. :(

5. I assume the "NO" votes live in gated communities? Because they'd better.

7. I think the deadline that is expiring had to do with
deadlines to apply for new tiers. That is, if her state benefit ends after Dec 1st, the extension (that didn't pass) for filing for a new "tier" would not be available. If that makes sense.
