Lieberman : We Have The DADT Votes
his afternoon Sen. Joe Lieberman said that there are more than enough votes to repeal DADT in the Senate. Via Wonk Room:

“I am confident that we have more than 60 votes prepared to take up the Defense authorization with the repeal of ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ if only there will be a guarantee of a fair and open amendment process, in other words, whether we’ll take enough time to do it,’ Lieberman said, naming GOP Sens. Susan Collins and Richard Lugar as ‘Yes’ votes. “Time is an inexcusable reason not to get this done.”

Also from Wonk Room comes word that Sen. Lisa Murkowski told a local Alaska news station that she would support the repeal. Reporters are awaiting confirmation of that from Murkowski's office.

3. I gladly welcome his liberalism on this. I can go back to hating him when he
sides with the Republicans again. :7

6. This is why the Democrats and Obama didn't just tell him to go play in traffic.
We still need his vote to get things done.

9. Sorry, the Democrats aren't keeping Lieberman around because of gay people and abortion.
Log Cabin Republicans are no different on the issue. Not buying it.

12. He's there whether we like it or not. The point is that we didn't just tell him to go caucus with
the Republicans because we still need his vote whenever we can get it. We didn't keep Joe around. We tried to get rid of him. He won the election but he wont be winning the next one.

10. And another thing: this douchebag reps CONNECTICUT. Not Alabama, CT.
The only reason why Lieberman is in office is because the Republicans like him because he's an economic, jingoistic right-wing nutjob and the Democrats keep him because he can get re-elected and that's about all they care about.

2. So some Republican puts in a poison pill amendment that will
kill it, right Joe?

17. That is the BIG question. They want a large Amendment process. Can the Dems stick together well
enough to not let any poison pills get attached? That is the scary part and what Reid was trying to avoid. I think we would swallow a lot to get DADT repealed. Hopefully, it doesn't end up being anything too nasty.

4. Through the Looking Glass: Log Cabin Republicans, Joe Lieberman & Secretary Gates
When the history of Civil Rights are written for LGBT Americans, there are going to be a lot of paradoxical messages.

Kudos to Senator Lieberman, the Independent from Connecticut, for his work on this issue in the Senate and with Republican members of the Senate.

7. We can't do it without them
Lieberman and the Republicans...

It will pass with overwhelming support from Democrats and will be signed by a Democratic President.

13. Yes, we'll see what happens when it's time for the vote
Lieberman: With the Democrats on everything except the war, the deficit, health care reform, financial reform, or when they need a vote.
