Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn!
The more I listen to the MSM, the more discouraged I get. Not because they are confronting me with unwelcome truths; they wouldn't recognize truth if it bit them on the ass.

No, I am discouraged because it is becoming more and more apparent that the "fix" is in: the 100 or so obscenely wealthy families who own the rest of us are shaping the news we see and hear so that more and more of us will simply nod and smile as we are robbed and even killed so that they can acquire more money; more power. The latest example is the totally skewed coverage of the recent verdict in the Ahmed Ghailani trial in New York.

Ghailani was convicted of only one of 285 charges, but faces 20 years to life for that one count. The right wing screamers and liars---King and Pataki come to mind---are having a shit fit because the Obama administration tried this man in civilian criminal court. According to these two and others, that choice of forums is why Ghailani was acquitted on 284 counts. Of course, these whores KNOW better.

What they won't mention and what no MSM "journalist" has yet dared to bring up is that the acquittals resulted because the judge rightly excluded much of the government's most damning evidence.

And, WHY? Why did the judge throw out this evidence? Wouldn't that be a great question to ask?

The evidence was excluded because it was obtained either directly or indirectly by TORTURE---torture authorized by George W. Bush and his legion of moral mutants! Rational voices tried to warn those who unleashed the water boarders and rapists and murderers that such tactics, in addition to being moral abominations, would render many of our captives "prosecution proof" under any civilized system of justice.

Bush and Cheney and the boys are the ones who issued "get out of jail free cards" to many who attacked us and our friends. They left us to choose between trying these people using only a portion of the evidence or becoming terrorists and criminals ourselves simply "dealing with" such captives without even the pretense of a trial.

But, if the MSM were to place such facts before the American public, they'd run the risk of some of them asking inconvenient and embarrassing questions like: "Why aren't Bush and Cheney in prison?"

Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn!

1. I expected that crap from Peter King.. but I was a little surprised
at Pataki. I don't remember him being a torture apologist. I was under the impression that he wasn't batshit insane.

7. His faux indignant tone seemed slap-happy
the other night. I forget whose show he was on with Jonathon Turley, but it looked like he was getting a rush over this trial's outcome.

I watched Turley's face - who sat there shaking his head with a wry smile of WTF!

Guess Pataki's playing the GOP game of hubris indignatude. :puke:

9. I saw that. Think it was "Hardball."
I was never a Pataki fan when he was the governor here, and I always pay attention when Jonathan Turley is on, so I was wishing it was more obvious to anyone who was watching that Turley was the only one of the two that had a valid point to make... x(

6. sigh.
It's a recurrent problem with just about any legislation, program or idea that benefits the poor and middle class American citizen.

It's what happens when the media has been corrupted by corporate interests and not much different than how our government has been corrupted by those same interests.

It is discouraging.

8. King has made "birther" remarks and admired the terrorist attack on the IRS building.

Moreover, you're right. Rachel made the point well recently: Copying down what each "side" "claims" with no comment is not journalism. It gives equal status to truth and lies, which confuses, rather than informs. Lazy info-tainment "reporting" is part of the breakdown all around us.
