Brief personal comment about Palin's looming Presidential bid:
Edited on Fri Nov-19-10 07:12 AM by chillspike
It is amazing that Sarah Palin even thinks about the presidency. After all, THIS is how she prepares for it? THIS is the respect she has for the highest office in America and the American voters?:

By quitting her governorship and doing a reality show? Not running for another office somewhere and gaining more experience? Not running for the senate as Hilliary Clinton did? But sit around on her butt doing a reality show about herself putting up fences between herself and those fellow Americans she respects so much? Seriously? She's going to stand before the American people and ask for their vote with THAT resume?

She's really going to do this? She's going to follow up the reality show with a presidential bid? Seriously?

Are you fucking kidding me? If the person she is debating during the presidential campaign doesn't jump all over that in the debate they will have been very poorly advised.

She should be torn to pieces over this.

Who's with me on this?

3. Of course she'll run.
She's the perfect TV candidate! She's attractive, speaks in sound bites, & people remember what she says even if it's stupid. She's an advertiser's dream.

That said, I hope she's eviscerated in the debates. (Look it up, Lady Blah Blah.) I also doubt she'll make it out of the primaries. The GOP Old Boys' Club doesn't want her or her trailer-trash family representing their party. They're afraid they can't control her. She's a diva who does as she pleases, damn the consequences.

17. It's an insult to Americans' intelligence
for Palin to even think she's getting in straight off a reality show.

4. I think that she's using Reagan as some kind of blueprint...
She's filling his slots that she thinks would get her to the White House:

Been a governor like Unca Ronnie... Done (Never mine that she didn't do anything remarkable while in office and quit before her term was over).

Failed national bid just like Unca Ronnie's first loser campaign... Done (Never mind that there isn't some kind of Iranian hostage crisis that she can exploit her way into the presidency with).

Going back to the ranch to build fences while she bides her time, again just like Unca Ronnie... Done (Never mind that she has no ranch and, instead of leaving the limelight like Ronnie after he lost in 1976, she's attention whoring it up BIG TIME!)

The result is as plain as the noses on out faces; she's totally misreading Reagan.

8. Relatively
Reagan wasn't a stupid man, RELATIVELY.

In actuality, he wasn't that bright.

6. What bothers me is
The rebugs all thought Hillary was unqualified yet she at least paid her dues in the senate and was a senator when she ran for president.

Palin wants to run for president straight from a reality show and rebugs will still vote for her. It's completely hypocritical.

7. I think alot of American equate politics with entertainment now.
In their minds, the two are almost the same. No wonder they get confused about voting for a pretty face and her props (fake glasses, troubled family in tow, governorship).

12. You're right.
And the Repugs are banking on that with the inane, vulgar candidates they've been digging up for the past few years.

14. That's because Americans really aren't that stupid -
they know when they're getting screwed. I know that Obama supporters have a big list of his achievements (and certainly there are worthy items on that list), but what folks see overall is a flailing economy and an increasingly entrenched military in the middle east. That's basically what they had under Bush (never mind that he provoked it all). So they see it as pretty much "the same" no matter who is in office. Why not seek entertainment if nothing is going to change anyway?

BTW, I'm not advocating Palin - just explaining what I think we're seeing. And we're going to need a much stronger personality than Obama to take on the right wing. He's too intellectual, too willing to compromise.

15. I should add: Sarah Palin is one of those
Americans that equates politics with entertainment. It's all a beauty contest to her, with faux patriotism being the yardstick by which she thinks candidates should be measured.

9. A Look At The Parallel Universe...
Mooselini has and will always be a celebrity politician. She didn't become famous due to her credentials, just cause she was in the right place at the right time...and being an opportunist, she grabbed and now is on a ride that only a few egos dare go.

Sadly there are many in this country who can "relate" to her...besides the word salad she spews that neither she nor her accolytes can understand either but it sure sounds good. It's all visceral...a common disdain for intelligence (cause they ain't), social programs (cause they're selfish to the core) and arrogant. Throw in a good measure of homophobia, narcicism, sexism, racism and stir. Then add that "sexy" wink...she becomes the MILV.

Her ego has taken to super heights. Yes, she thinks not only that she can win but beat an incumbent. She's got the corporate media dancing her tunes and she's busy reading her news clippings. No real reality in any of this. But that's fine...if people in this country are that stupid after all that's been exposed about what a vacuous phony this person is and they still vote for her, what's that say about how stuck on stupid this country is...

Edited on Fri Nov-19-10 08:11 AM by HipChick
Her income potential will drop as soon as she says she's not running, interest will wane...so she will keep being a political tease..I don't believe she's exchange $12M per year, for hard work and a job that pays less than half a million a year..she's all the the benjamins

I think you summed Sarah Palin up perfectly with that...And made me laugh...LOL.

I can't help wanting to extend that to a three word phrase for added comedic effect, though. LOL :)

20. This Is A Masive EgoTrip
A year ago I would have agreed with you that Grifterella was only in it for the money, but I am now convinced she's listening only to those little voices in her head and has detached from any sort of reality. This has come too easy...and when that happens one can tend to believe in their own infalibility and go places and do things that not only are stupid but eventually self-destructive.

She honestly thinks this is some divine intervention...whatever those voices in her head (and those who feed into her go) is all that matters. She's running...and sure to turn the GOTB primaries into a real circus.

23. She's probably secretly hoping for the "pack of wild dogs attack" by
other Republican candidates, thinking it will further ingratiate herself with the teabaggers, but the road ends there, as far as her electoral prospects go.
