*Why do we have to keep begging?*
This has been a sad Veterans Day for me. After helping my friend who's nephew was wounded in Afghanistan,I received a note from a another friend. Apparently,Operation Helmet is still needing donations.
For those who may have forgotten my letters over the last 6 years,Operation Helmet is a private organization I am associated with that helps troops obtain helmet upgrade kits at no cost to them.It was founded by a veteran flight surgeon,Dr. Bob Meaders, who had seen one too many head injuries.Operation Helmet has donated almost 54,000 helmet upgrades since 2003.That is,hopefully,54,000 troops who were at a lower risk for traumatic brain injury.
You may learn more about them here:
http://www.operation-helmet.org/Soldiers For The Truth is another organization that is committed to discovering the needs of the troops and fighting until these needs are addressed. Their main areas of focus are
Body Armor,Combat Boots and Military Helmets.Despite the dedication of this group(another I am proud to belong to), these subjects have simply fallen off the radar.

http://sftt.org/As we enter a new decade of war,why are the troops still forced to beg for help? Why are people voting for a decrease in their taxes...while waving their flags and sending more sons and daughters to war? Why do Americans choose to ignore the war, ignore the troops and ignore the veterans when they come home? Why did I see no discussion of this in the last election? Is this the "New" patriotism?
