Terror Pot. Far Out, Man.

Terror Pot. Far Out, Man.

by Abby Zimet

Over 250 federal, state and local officials carried out a counter-terrorism drill in Northern California wherein "Red Cell" terrorist pot growers planted a "bomb," took "hostages," and "commandeered" a major dam to "free" an imprisoned comrade. The exercise took 18 months to plan and cost $500,000. Marijuana advocates thought it was kinda stupid. No word if the "terrorists" were giggling as they worked.

2. In these serious economic times, this is what they're spending our money on?
Gee, that money could have been used to employ 7-10 people for a year. But instead they spend it on a day romping around in the woods playing badass cop.

Our tax dollars at work.

Since when have dope growers become terrorists? What a sad statement of law enforcement mentality in that they are now thinking of dope growers as terrorists.

4. Let me see
So the federal excise tax on tobacco runs I think $1.01 per pack of cigarettes. If my math is right, that's 495,050 packs of cigarettes.

Suppose instead there had been half a million pack-equivalents of weed sold with a dollar a pack-equivalent of revenue from an excise tax. With $500K saved, plus another $500K in pot revenue, that's one million dollars (Dr. Evil-esqe) which could have been better spent solving a murder or two, catching a few robbers, and thwarting a couple of rapists.

Giggling terrorists? No, not realistic. Munching on chips? Yes. realistic.

5. It's a warning shot. Likely planned before the election.
Still, what a waste.

6. Nothing to do with terror. Everything to do with the sweeps they'll be making once...
...the Feds decide they've had enough of the Medical Marijuana growers.

But you all probably knew that.
