Poo breaks into the Federal Reserve!
"A federal grand jury has indicted a Malaysian citizen for allegedly hacking into a computer network at the Federal Reserve Bank and possessing more than 400,000 credit and debit card numbers. Federal prosecutors also allege Lin Mun Poo, 32, made a career of compromising systems at financial institutions, major corporations and defense contractors."

even if he wasnt on an h-1b visa

to work in tech, you have to have access to tons of data for testing, copies of live data

security breeches in the past were fairly rare, because the career paid fairly well (and would be over if caught), and a citizen could never go home again, or even stay in the country - the FBI has a very long arm - life as you've known it - over, even if you didnt get caught

but a foreign national just goes home with the data and sets up shop - this guy's mistake was selling the numbers while in brooklyn - had he gone home he would have been nearly untouchable, and 400,000 people (the size of a midwestern metro) would have their lives turned upside down with identity theft
