2. Bill Gates, Sr. tried this in Washington State. He and others of means (including his

son) OFFERED to pay a State Income Tax over a certain amount (we currently have no State income tax) and earmarked the revenue for education. These were some heavy hitters but some other heavy hitters, Steve Balmer, Jeff Bezos, Ackerley and more, jumped on the "we won't be able to hire more people" bandwagon. WTF? This was their PERSONAL income! The ads (and I heard two of my friend say this) is that in a couple of years we'd ALL be taxed, and too many people who WOULDN'T be affected bought into it and voted it down. :grr:

I admire these people for wanting to give back -- and it's only fair. I'd like to believe if I were in their financial shoes, I'd be signing this petition and using my money to get it done.
