21. I moved a copy to the Horror section in Borders a few nights ago!
But this was in Dubai so it probably wasn't the same book. I was disappointed that I couldn't put it in the true crime section, but they didn't have one.

Took a photo with my cell phone and posted it to Facebook. Spur of the moment thing so I didn't have an insert. Gives me some great ideas though!

20. Now that note isn't true
There is no way that George Bush actually wrote the book. After all it's 481 pages and that's approximately 480 more pages worth of thoughts than he's capable of putting together. This is a guy who was befuddled by how to eat a pretzel while sitting down after all.

44. I worked in a bookstore in my younger years
Wouldn't have bothered me in the least. I spent *no* time looking for books "gone missing." It will probably only be noticed by people perusing the horror sections of the store and give them a good laugh.

This *really* bothers you for some reason, doesn't it?

Not me. Not one bit. Plan to indulge should the opportunity arise.

31. 6 years working in bookstores...
i would have LOVED this. It's like a treasure hunt... find the book, guess where it could be. My co-workers and i probably would have made a game out of it. Might have even evolved a point system or tallying which shelves they end up on. Ever worked in a bookstore? It can be fun...

:)

Yep, we'd have turned it into a game. Actually, some of the folks I worked with? They would have made a game out of trying to catch one another shelve it in the wrong section. i.e. more appropriate section like True Crime, Fiction or Horror.

It only takes a few seconds to move a book. I'm sure it's no great burden to the employee.

33. Welllll, we were supposed to.
Not 100% dilligent, but after closing while someone else balanced the till the rest of us were straightening and reshelving the obvious mishelved items. Can't catch everything of course, but we caught what we could. And working in a bookstore can get boring in down time. We'd tackle a section and get it cleared out and orderly. When we felt like it. :-)

41. Yes, they do. I was at Border's one night, near closing time, and
some employees were getting ready to do the 'walk-through".

Think about it. A couple of days of not going through all the shelves and things would be chaos and no one could ever find anything. People don't put books back where they belong. :(

My public library has signs all over that say, "Please do not re-shelve books". Better to leave it on a table for a librarian to shelve if you can't figure out, from the call number, exactly where it goes.

61. To be honest
I do think about this on occasion. If I move stuff in a store, then that store has to hire people to move it back. If I am a messy shopper, I am creating jobs. It takes me back to the movie the Fifth element, where he breaks the cup.

Now, Ive never done it with a book. But I generally leave the cart in the cart return outside for that reason, even though I could easily walk it back to the store front. Same thing if I grab a non-perishable item and then later in my shopping change my mind.

I guess I am just too orderly and organized about my book buying to have considered it in that context. And I doubt I will be in a bookstore carrying his book anytime soon, as I tend to frequent the resellers. And they don't carry books just cause they are being pushed out cheap to make sure it his the NYTimes list.
