So Joe Scarborough suspended for two days?

I must have missed that memo...and the DU folks that were defending him..

MSNBC television suspended conservative morning host Joe Scarborough for two days for giving money to political candidates, meting out the same punishment given to liberal host Keith Olbermann two weeks ago for a similar offense.

Scarborough said the donations went to his brother and three longtime family friends and he wrongly believed the personal nature of the gifts exempted him from the NBC News policy on campaign contributions.

"This morning Joe Scarborough informed me that he made eight contributions of $500 each to local candidates in Florida between 2004-08," MSNBC President Phil Griffin said in a statement.

"Since he did not seek or receive prior approval for these contributions, Joe understands that I will be suspending him for violating our policy."

Scarborough will return to his "Morning Joe" program on Wednesday.

7. More like...
It was wrong when they suspended Keith for making political donations, so it's wrong to do the same to Joke Scarborough. Nothing to do with "defending" him.

11. "They' only suspended Joe because 'they' had to after suspending Keith.
If they didn't, they would look like complete hypocrites.
No, They tried to take Keith out, it backfired, and it may just be the only reason Keith is back was because Joe was found out too.

8. I don't like him either (and I wasn't one of the ones defending him) but I don't
like seeing us do what they do -- it's okay if somebody we like does it, but it's not okay if we don't like that person. It's not fair.

9. This bullshit sense of 'fairness' is what is killing us. Again I ask,
When has Joe defended US?

12. I don't care whether or not he's defended us, that doesn't enter into my belief
of what is fair and right. And if two people do the same thing they are either both to be defended or both to be condemned, we can't pick and choose. That's only how I feel, of course.

How is this "bullshit sense of fairness" killing us?

14. The guy will be back in two days. We know this already.
We didn't have any such reassurances with Keith. If this is the cause you choose to champion, be my guest. Its misplaced, but as with you, it is just my opinion.

19. I'm not championing any "cause" -- and if Keith had been suspended for a week
then I would expect the same for Joe S. If not, if there wasn't equal "punishment", THAT is a cause I would champion.

23. He doesn't need it, they're saying right off the back: 2 days
With Olbermann they first said indefinitely without pay.

10. If the punishment is the same then it's fair. JS is a douche and I'd like to see him
replaced, but he doesn't deserve to go for this.

15. I think their policy is flat-out wrong
advocacy is one thing but you should be able to contribute money privately to whoever the fuck you want.
