News Alert: General Motors is surviving and thriving, and thank you, Pres. Obama and the Dems!
GM is not only saved, it is now doing very well, and paying us back with interest. Thanks to President Obama and many courageous legislators. Why do we walk back from this? Why are there apologies? Do you know how many lives were salvaged by the Chrysler bailout 30 years ago, that like this one, cost us nothing??

My uncles worked for Ford and Buick. My Dad was an original GM designer at the Tech Center in Warren, MI, in the early '50s (another story there). My mother and grandmother worked at Packard's, and Mom had another story, like first woman in the U.S. to win the WPB award (Eleanor - yes, that one - flew in, to huge media coverage).

Yet the Repukes - who once upon a time would do what they were told by GM - fought the bailout because of who was president.

They did not fight the financial industry bailout. Just the auto industry.

Anyway, let me yell: THIS IS A TREMENDOUS SUCCESS STORY, AND THE RETHUGLICANS WOULD HAVE LET GM DIE.

I hope my fellow DUers agree, but I know every inch of the Detroit area, and all the plants, and even worked at Chrysler in 1972 as a college student part time.

America is Michigan, and Michigan is America. And so is our frog - Michigan J. Frog - to prove it (OK, no proof, but Hello My Honey, Hello My Baby, Hello My Ragtime Gal - and GM!)

6. Then you better watch this 20 seconds. It might make it OK.
Then again, it could make it worse.

But it will always be more fun: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1vH2rjUshk

3. It's a WONDERFUL story, and I'm so glad GM and Ford, for that matter are
going to offer electric cars. I want to buy American! And I want to support the workers in Detroit!

And I want your frog!

4. and some here
on both left and right will slam it. I understand why Michael Moore was sad, as he wanted to do much more, but even he is glad that we saved it as opposed to selling it to the chinese. If anything saves O.'s legacy, it may be the simple fact that not only is there an american auto industry left, but that it now produces machines that compete with Japan.

9. +1. Please post it independently!
Not on mine, which won't get notice.

GM is saved, and thriving. And jobs, and pensions, and much else is saved.

Your cartoon is great. Please post independently, and it may reach Greatest.

Love the Freep. Hometown.

8. But..but..but ...it's SOSHULIZZIMMMM
There is no upside to saving thousands of jobs and keeping major defense suppliers viable if it means buying into the Pelosi-Lenin-Mao-Marx-John Rawls-Lennon-Michael Moore agenda.

Keep your powder dry people -- and be ready for anything!

11. Let them quit fighting, then?
The working people fought for their rights through things like the Flint strike, and you dismiss them for that?

I'm sick of YOUR crap. Pull it together and fight back. Fairyland exists in your perfect little world, not in the reality of what people face every day.

i have no idea where someone who likes the bankruptcy/bailout gets off invoking the flint strikers.

15. As ever, thank you very much. That's the nicest thing that anyone's ever done for me.
And let me be the first, Catwoman, to note the holiday coming up (go to 3:21): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvCe4CmrQ9o&feature=related

Thank you very much.
