ABC says the substance — reportedly sent to Bristol Palin — was later determined to be talcum powder

"LOS ANGELES - A white powder in an envelope with a threatening letter delivered to the "Dancing With the Stars" production office at CBS Studios in Los Angeles was determined to be talcum powder.

ABC spokeswoman Amy Astley released a statement confirming that the envelope was delivered to the show's production office on the CBS Studios lot Friday night.

The statement said ABC was later told by Los Angeles fire officials that the substance was talcum powder..."

stupid, or oblivious, though it does often silence them to varying degrees.

many here have learned not to ridicule the severely brain damaged, and/or victims of torture, no matter how uncomfortable their appearance makes one.

speaking for decency, and on behalf of those lobotomy survivors who ARE out there reading this forum.

i hope you will voluntarily correct your post. still, i alerted on this because this keeps coming up on DU, and i feel it is time to make a rule against humiliating such survivors by using them as if they are the ultimate embodiment of ignorance.

Something else that should also be noted:

As you point out Lobotomy was a very, very cruel and diabolical form of torture, performed on victims who really weren't given a choice in the matter.

The points you made in regard to the post being offensive are very valid. I did not intend for the post to come off that way, nor was my intention to degrade or ridicule victims of lobotomization, or anyone suffering from the effects of sever brain damage, etc. Again you have my apologies.

What is also offensive and frightening, is that The American Public DOES have a choice, and unfortunately, for the most part, CHOOSES to be stupid, oblivious, apathetic, incurious, and willfully ignorant, especially when it comes to matters in the FAKE War On Terror.

knew you didn't intend to degrade or ridicule. i know others here haven't either. it is part of how well that particular torture works, as its victims become the invalidated, rather than the perpetrators being so. the perpetrators also intend for people to believe that lobotomy is the stuff of horror movies and conspiracy theories.

you showed me a new aspect of why it matters so much, too: the fact that those who are the really ignorant ones are, for the most part, willfully ignorant. it lets them off too easy to blame it on an uncontrollable condition. well observed! enlightening!

i appreciate your caring so much, and really getting it. i knew there was little time to change your post, and i definitely prefer the new version. i sometimes think i ought to post an entire thread on this issue. i might manage to yet!

I have a lot of friends, both conservative and liberal, and I've never wanted to shoot any of them for having a different political opinion.

I wouldn't leap to the conclusion that the perpetrator is a conservative--he or she could just as easily be a liberal or someone who isn't into politics at all. Even non-political DWTS fans can get so caught up in the competition that they'll shoot out their TV. (I might be moved to do that, myself, if I ever watched that show.)

If I were the cops, the first thing I'd check is the alibi of the guy who actually DID shotgun his TV.
