Parole agents point out flaws in Jessica's Law

SACRAMENTO, CA - Operation Safe Playground, the largest state-wide sex offender sweep ever done in California, was a huge success, according to officials with the state Department of Corrections and Rehabiliation.

By Thursday night, 579 parolees were arrested on parole violations, 59 of them from Northern California.

But while three teams of at least 20 agents were searching homes and hotel rooms, one comment was made repeatadly --Jessica's Law is causing problems.

"It has very good intentions," said apprehension agent Brooke Orendorff. "Unfortunately, the application of this law has caused some difficulties for those that are dealing with the (sex offender) population."

..

Frayer isn't the only one. Parole agents say because of the restrictions, more and more offenders are becoming transient rather than staying put.

2. Does anyone know if these sex offenders are in compliance with the law when they are transient?

4. I'm not sure, but I doubt it.
Parole officers are supposed to know where parolees go. So it could be a case where compliance with one law makes compliance with another difficult.

3. Well, that was the intent.
Reap what you sow, fuckers. You meant it to be used so parents could look up if there's any of them living around kids, and what you DID was to make sure they couldn't live ANYWHERE.

Zero sympathy from me for the "concerned" parents or the state. This is exactly what y'all wanted. Quit bitching about it.

And it's far, far too easy to become a sex offender in our Puritanical society.

6. Being classified as a "sex offender" is a status
You are a in permanent criminal caste that can be arrested at any time and be imprisoned for five years for violating status laws just by being alive. It is impossible to comply with the laws.
