Jon Stewart labels Glenn Beck ‘the manchurian lunatic’

Comedy Central's Jon Stewart got out his chalkboards Thursday to prove that Glenn Beck is really puppet controlled by billionaire George Soros and out to destroy America.

For the past few weeks, Beck has used his Fox News show to rail against Soros. But Stewart found the same pattern of actions at Fox News that Beck claimed Soros was guilty of.

"My only hope in watching these shows was please don't make it so awful that I feel the need to defend a vaguely creepy hedge fund billionaire like George Soros," begged Stewart.

Beck has attacked Soros -- a Jew who survived the Holocaust -- for taking property from Jews as a teenager and helping to collapse four communist countries.

2. My opinion of Stewart has changed. I was an avid fan, but since his comparing KO with Beck...

and things of that sort, I've changed my mind on him.

Not just because I'm a fan of KO and not of Beck, but because Stewart's comparison of Fox and MSNBC, and KO with Beck, is ludicrous. We all know why that is, w/o my going into detail.

That anyone would think that, much less say that...it'll be a while before I watch his show again. And when I do, I won't regard it in quite the same way.

When Stewart actually goes after Olbermann on his show for something I will judge him again at that time. Otherwise this Stewart vs. Olbermann thing has sort of run its course and we should let go of it.

This false equivalency is the invention of the mainstream press. The tiff being exaggerated and blown out of proportion is likely the work of agitators trying to divvie up the left a bit more and make us less effectual, and I personally think these agitators are conserva-dems.

21. Actually, I just heard about this week when Olbermann went off on it for over 5 mins on his show.

So I guess he's the agitator.

It's not old news to me. I just heard about it from KO this week. It's not a big deal in my life. But yes, when someone says something incredibly stupid, like MSNBC & Fox are the same thing, it affects my opinion of him. Doesn't mean I "hold a grudge." But that tells me something about the person, and I will of course remember it, since I don't have Alzheimer's.

You know, like, when Mel Gibson a long time ago hit his wife while she was holding the baby, and then called her a cunt and said he'd put her in the ground....I don't "hold a grudge" against him. I don't even know him. But such things tell us a little something about Gibson.

To ignore what a person says and does is to ignore reality.

22. I find the timing of this segment telling.

Since Stewart made that stupid comparison, he's had a conversation with Rachel Maddow during which he was made to look a little foolish, and he's been roundly chastised in certain quarters.

I'm wondering if he'd never actually watched Beck before, and if this was his mea culpa.
