Stand Up Against TSA’s Invasive Security Procedures
Stand Up Against TSA’s Invasive Security Procedures
Deeplink by Rainey Reitman

Article from Electronic Frontiers Foundation.
http://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2010/11/stand-against-tsa-invasive-security-procedures

The Transportation Security Administration has adopted "enhanced" security procedures — presenting people with the horrible choice of either submitting to body scanners that show passengers unclothed or submit to what are called "groping" pat-down techniques which include touching both breasts and genitalia. As some have noted these processes appear to have little likelihood of increasing the safety of fliers.

Individuals appalled by these procedures have a right to submit formal complaints to the TSA. It is important the passengers and crew submit complaints to showcase the widespread resistance to these procedures. TSA maintains that they have seen no increase in complaints about the new security procedures. EFF will be filing FOIA requests to test this claim, but in the meantime we wanted to make sure that people who wished to complain knew how to make their thoughts and feelings heard.
How to Complain About TSA’s Invasive Screening Procedures

You can submit a formal complaint against the TSA about the new body scanners and frisking techniques by filling out the form on their website. https://contact.tsa.dhs.gov/DynaForm.aspx?FormID=10

4. "You can submit a formal complaint against the TSA," afterwhich you will
be put on a no-fly list.

Don't forget: Fascists despise people who point out their fascism.

10. Hyperbole is a commonplace on this subject, it seems.
Did you know that TSA screeners are all perverts? I read that earlier today. I had no idea that was true. Now I'm :scared:

apologies for any miscommunication.

But if you think they don't notice, you're kidding yourself. Look how they treat anti-war protesters. Why should this be any different?

15. here's why it's important:
Gandhi said, "All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."

I've been reporting dismal news at Democratic Underground because there is very little else available, when it comes to news. Bad news sells viewership and papers. Society is sick in that way.

When it comes to the wars and our economy, good news is nothing more than propaganda.

Still, we must not succumb to depression and resignation. Although media is not in favor of leadership in DC that would end the wars or try saving our economy for the middle class, we must keep doing what we can to save what's left of our resources and freedom.

It's not news to any readers here that the owners of Big Businesses control most media.

While it may not matter to anyone but ourselves, we must try defending America from the top 2% of wealth-holders, just because it's the right thing to do. Gandhi said, "All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."

Keep writing letters to editors and articles online that inform the public of the truth.

Keep talking to those that are taken in by media lies generated by the ultra-rich.

Keep signing petitions.

Keep protesting the wars.

Keep donating to candidates and causes that are attempting to fix America.

5. How about just don't fly?
Let everyone who really cares about this take a bus, drive, take a train, take a cruise, stay home, just stay away from the airports.

Boycott the airlines and this stuff will come down around their ears.

Yeah, yeah, I know how important it is to the universe that we fly in those cigar tubes jammed in between two people who are still digesting the whole steer they had for lunch. That is sort of the point of a boycott, isn't it?

Protest TSA groping/x-ray strip searches, help the planet, and reduce your own stress all at the same time.

9. agree
I will not fly until this changes. Wouldn't it be something if people actually did this over the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday, all tickets canceled.. Make the Airlines push the TSA to stop doing this crap.

18. Maybe this is a good strategy to reduce planet cookin gasses?
If you can't scare people out of flying oily rockets with unfortunate accidents and scary boogeymen, make it really embarrassing and shameful to get on board these unsustainable gas-hogs.

Let's shoot for 50% reduction in jet fuels and feel really good about it, pushing for better. Like riding high speed electric trains if you gotta go in a hurry. Opportunity beckons.

14. K&R
Complain at more than one point i.e. your airline, Congressional Reps/Senators, LTTE, websites, and anywhere else you can think of to make this harder for them to sweep it under the rug.

Frankly I don't buy the reports that Americans are find & dandy with this new standard of "guilty til proven innocent" strip search to board a plane.

Now, they're trying to find out if we're willing to give up our dignity for the same reason.
