Upstate Schools Sponsor Toy & Food Drives

UPSTATE, S.C. --

Here are a list of some of the local toy and food drives underway at area schools:

Anderson District 5: Westside High School donated $553.86 to Anderson Interfaith Ministries. Our school was also able to donate 3,368 canned goods to AIM; Lakeside is having a canned food drive for AIM, Hanna and Westside have been in a partnership with each other for our 5th annual canned food drive. The theme this year is “Because We CAN!”;

Oconee County School District: The Seneca Middle School Wildcats are helping out the community by continuing their 5th annual can food drive. Knock Out Hunger in Oconee County is running throughout the month of November. Faculty and students are contributing by donating non-perishable food items and/or money which will then be donated to Our Daily Bread, a local food bank/kitchen located in Seneca.

Spartanburg District 2: Boiling Springs Junior High Beta members Madi, Megan, Peyton, Josie, and Jorden, Christmas Toy Drive, Benefiting Upstate Resource Center, Saturday December 4, 10 am – 2 pm,

Spartanburg District 7: At most district school food drives are held in November/December for the Soup Kitchen and/or Total Ministries and students also volunteer at the facilities. Schools also adopt Holiday children and their families, and provide presents and clothes for the season.

Union County School District: Buffalo Elementary: Approx 2500 cans donated today (Thursday) for Union’s Salvation Army from the school in the Clemson/Carolina competition. It will feed families who come to the local Salvation Army for over a month.
