Hotel Denies Room to Marine on Honeymoon
D'oh!

Hillary and Jason Martin of Bakersfield California were married last week - Jason was on leave from the Marines, and the couple took the opportunity to tie the knot before he headed back for combat training.

Jason was old enough to join the Marines and die for his country, but that didn’t matter to Bakersfield’s Padre Hotel, where the couple had booked their honeymoon night, thanks to Hillary’s mother. When the newlyweds arrived at the hotel, they were told that they could not stay in the room, because they didn’t meet the hotel’s policy of being 21-years-old.

Nevermind the fact that Jason was wearing his dress blues when the pair showed up, or that Hillary was in her wedding dress or that the room was booked and paid for by someone over 21 - the hotel was unwavering in their demands and turned the pair away.

“I was so upset, I just broke down,” Hillary told the Los Angeles Times.

3. Yeah, because Bakersfield is such a hotbed of subsersive progressives.
(Of course, that won't stop Fox, will it?)

2. So the hotel is supposed to waive their policy because someone wearing a marine uniform shows up?

7. Agreed & Well Said
It's their company policy and they have every right to set the terms of the use of their rooms.

I do hope that the parent got a refund for the room.

5. That is a stupid discriminatory rule in the first place. I was married with a baby before the age
of 21.

9. let's see, except for being able to drink, people in this country are considered ADULTS at age 18--
so what the hell is the purpose of this policy?

glad I never attempted to stay at that hotel when I was there.

10. Generally, these rules are in place to keep college drunk-fests
off the property. That said, it would seem reasonable to empower the manager to make these decisions on a case by case basis.

If you've ever seen a hotel room or suite following a college party, I think you'd have a better appreciation for this policy!!
