9. Could have been an Oil Seed crop
In Colonial times, the seeds were pressed for the oil, which was used for lamps and food. It's a high quality oil and one of the best from a health standpoint.

That's how Hempstead NY arrived at its name.

3. If that was some good bud
just a stroll though that field would be all that was needed.

5. A story...not long after the fall of the Soviet Union a friend of mine
went to one of the newly open Eastern European nations to work on a film. On a day off, some local students took him on a walk in the woods. He said there was this smell, and they followed it. Found a field like this one. The local students did not know that it was in fact, marijuana. They took a bunch back to the set and dried it, smoked it, and there you go. A huge field, he said, stinky, seedy, and a sight or sore eyes....

10. Thank you for posting that.
It's amazing how a little color can change one's perspective of a time period.

Am I the only one who gets annoyed by HuffPoo's "Rank this photo" for every damn photo slide show?
