Yet I keep hearing calls for more racial profiling on TV every day. No one ever mentions the good old boy from Texas named Joe Stack when discussing using racial profiling. Wonder why that is?

Was committed by a bunch of white guys.

2. Yes, one incident involving a small, private plane changes the whole calculus
Muslim extremists no longer stand out as an especially dangerous threat. All people are equally likely to crash a plane into a building.

9. Have you listened to the crap that is coming off conservative radio and t.v.?
Yes, I think all races are capable of doing this, and will then blame it on the Muslims, somehow.

12. No, I don't listen to crap
:hi:

I'm all for placing blame where it's due. Most aircraft hijackings, bombings, and attempts to do same in recent years have been done by young Muslim men. That is a fact. Subjecting everyone regardless of age, gender, etc. to the same level of scrutiny just to make it appear to be fair doesn't get the job done.

13. As Hillary Clinton said,
the enemy is adaptable. We will agree to disagree.

I'm all for using credible evidence. Also, if the situation involved bombs, why don't they have better bomb detector machinery that doesn't involve radiation?

3. And there's some guy shooting at government buildings in the DC
area, too. I don't know his profile, though. Threats can come from anywhere.

I'm not a terrorist. But you don't know me. You're probably not a terrorist, but I don't know you, either. If I fly on an airplane, I don't know anybody by my wife. Now, probably, none of the people on the plane are terrorists, but I have no way to know that. I assume that almost no people on DU aren't terrorists, but I don't know anyone on DU personally, either.

Each of us knows whether we're terrorists or not. Each of us knows nothing about the strangers we encounter everyday, wherever we go. That, my DU friends, is the problem these days. People all over the internet are calling for the violent overthrow of the government. They use pseudonyms, so I have no idea who they are. I know who I am. I know who my wife is. I know my real-life friends. I don't know you, though, and you don't know me. See you at the airport, or at the game, or driving down the highway, or in the supermarket, or wherever. I don't know you or your intentions. I only know my intentions and the intentions of people I'm close to in real life.

5. Shhh - don't bother the wingnuts with facts.
They need their fear and xenophobia to justify their own inadequacies. They call it "patriotism" - you know, shredding the Constitution in the name of protecting what our country stands for. Go figure.

8. I was afraid this wa going to happen.
All these law-abiding (ha-ha) white folk are going to demand racial profiling to get the TSA to stop touching their family's private parts, while my family and I have to be continually subjected to these abuses so we could learn to stay in our place. Like we don't have enough reminders already.

What happened to shaking the trees and listening to chatter? Did anybody stop to think that the TSA is touching white families because they know that white, angry, anglo conservative men are the threat to this country? These people have not only threatened the president, but would happily see him fail. And you KNOW that some wouldn't be too upset if another plane blew up while the Obama Administration was in power.

So, why are the media heads not blaming the hate talk on white radio and television for these heighten searches? Maybe, if they did, Glen Beck would realize the consequences for the hate he's stirring up?

10. Most people will only have to do the scan, too, so they are
making a big deal of this - when before they were willing to do anything to prevent terra - to make their point that everyone should be able to tell that they aren't terrorists by looking at them - they are white and middle class and that should mean they have the privilege of being presumed to be OK.
