1 in 3 Americans will have diabetes by 2050, experts say
from the Detroit Free Press:

Diabetes is an insidious condition -- one that's as sneaky as it is dangerous.

Unlike a bladder infection or appendicitis in which pain signals the need for immediate attention, high blood sugar is often easy to ignore, even as it slowly ravages the body. It can trigger plaque buildup in arteries and it puts the patient at risk for everything from blindness to kidney failure to loss of arms and legs, even death.

But tell that to a patient who feels just fine.

"When patients are otherwise feeling well, it's much more difficult for them to take this seriously," says Dr. Kirit Tolia, an endocrinologist at the Joslin Diabetes Center at Southfield's Providence Hospital.

In addition to nearly 24 million Americans already diagnosed with diabetes, another 57 million people are prediabetic, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Either they don't yet know it or, most frustrating for doctors, they know it but do nothing about it. ...........(more)

7. We've managed to create an entire line of drinks that are 250+ calories.
And I'm not talking about beer either. Look at like the Monster/Rockstar/whatever energy drink crap. One can of that shit has 300 calories, and like 150 grams of sugar. Look at even the so-called healthy drinks like VitaminWater - they have tons of sugar and sodium. This news really isn't that surprising.

6. Big ankles.
I saw a Young girl that was so heavy, she could not cross a street without having to take a rest. Her ankles were huge and deformed from supporting her weight. She must have been no older than 17.

4. they certainly will if the ptb keep lowering the bar for the definition of "diabetes" -- which
they've done three times since the 50s.

which is why a lot of this is crap.

8. I've always believed that poverty is a contributing factor to type 2 Diabetes,
the explosion of it among our First Nation's population being a good example. An interesting study:
