so I don't have to go through the TSA screening process.. Anyone think of that? Denver has two small airport NW of DIA and SE of DIA (Rocky Mountain Airport and Centennial Airport) Both of them are general aviation - Pet Air flies out of Rocky Mountain Airport. I'm sure the dogs and the cats are not subject to TSA screening!

3. Gee, they'd never start patting down people flying private planes...
...cause no way terrorists could ever think of using small private planes for suicide attacks.

Well, not the kind of terrorists we're supposed to be afraid of, anyway.

6. They can't cause as much damage though
That is why they don't require co-pilots.

16. Not as much as a jet could, though
That is why they don't require co-pilots.

Jets require them because of the damage they could do on the ground.

See any photo of the WTC after the crashes.

4. i was thinking that perhaps private charter flights might become a "growth industry"
I know my husband always flies to Seattle to see his folks the week after thanksgiving, and this year he is not going.

I will be interested in what folks post about the cost of private charters - could be a great way to go!

8. If you have to ask, you can't afford it.
There's your answer. If you could afford it, you'd already be doing it.

9. private charter - outrageously expensive, but it's less than two days drive from Va to Wash State
mapquest says 42 hours. My hubby and I can throw a mattress and blankets in the back of the car and take turns driving if there is an emergency with his folks. It took us two days to get there last time because of the airline schedule anyhow....
