http://www.dailykos.com/story/2010/11/21/922408/-11,023-tell-GOP:-Repeal-your-OWN-health-care,-hypocrites!

Folks, I'm delighted to be working with the good folks at CREDO on this, and... even more delighted that this thing is taking off like a rocket. Check it out, and if you like it, please support it and spread the word.

The letter from these 4 Dems is frankly (IMHO) a thing of genius, and we need to keep this going as long as possible. It exposes such an obvious, blatant case of McConnell and Boehner taking hypocrisy "to an 11", and if these boneheads really want to try to repeal health care reform... we need to make this our mantra.

Details here, and pasted below. Spread the word!
http://act.credoaction.com/campaign/gop_healthcare_hypocrites/index2.html?rc=hlinko_1142110_GOPHealth_dk

For 2 years, GOP leaders in Congress fought tooth and nail to oppose health care reform. They did their best to keep tens of millions without coverage, decrying any effort to help citizens as "socialist," "fascist" or some other equally baffling "ist." And incredibly, they are now talking about repealing it.

And yet, when it comes to their own coverage, Republicans in Congress are not only using government-sponsored health care, they are whining about having to wait for it.

Well, four brave members of Congress are calling GOP leaders on their hypocrisy, demanding they practice what they preach, and calling on them to give up their government-sponsored health care:

Four members -- Joe Crowley (NY), Linda Sanchez (CA), Donna Edwards (MD), and Tim Ryan (OH) -- are rounding up signatures for a letter to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, and Speaker-to-be John Boehner, encouraging them to press their members to refuse their federal health benefits based on the same principles underlying their opposition to health care reform.

"It is amazing that your members would complain about not having health care coverage for a few weeks, even after campaigning to repeal the Affordable Care Act, which will help provide coverage to millions of Americans who find themselves without health insurance for months or even years," the letter reads. "It begs the question: how many members of the Republican conference will be forgoing the employer-subsidized FEHBP coverage and experiencing what so many Americans find themselves forced to face? If your conference wants to deny millions of Americans affordable health care, your members should walk that walk."

We couldn't agree more. Write McConnell and Boehner today, and ask them if they will practice what they preach - and ask other GOP members to do the same.

3. I can't get excited about this
Comparing the LAVISH health care coverage Congress members get to the mandated, for profit, watered down crap they're pushing on us is apples v oranges.

The Republicans have every right to ask their employer about the coverage that comes with their jobs.

This is just more Red Team / Blue Team political posturing

6. I find it bizarre that a republican who runs on eliminating health care for others
is so concerned about his own health care on the first day he reports for work. And that he is so ignorant of how most health care plans work. Yet he opposes health care for all Americans.

He is a hypocrite. That's not posturing.

7. WE are the EMPLOYERS
That is something that seems to get lost in the mix.

We are the employers, so we should have the right to deny coverage to our employees.

4. REPEAT action: when GOP attacks Medicare and SS
Edited on Mon Nov-22-10 12:29 AM by billlll
Medicare: "give up your Congresscare"

SS: "give up your Government/senate pension"

"And like draftcard burners, you prove you're giving stuff up, by burning your Congresscare and Pension cards" (if they have such cards)

Remember: 49 nations outlive us (Columbia U. in NYC study) Outlive us
"Because of for-profit, inefficient, medical-error riddled health system... not tobacco, diet or inactivity" (paraphrase)

: Turks retire at 45(not a typo - forty five): Bolivia at 58. Chile is trying to rid itself of the Milton Friedman privatized ss that was a renowned flop.

18. If they would have actually passed REFORM, we wouldn't be having.......
........this discussion now. This would be a non-issue or moot point, PERIOD. Check the history, was there people in 1966 calling for Medicare repeal? Get fucking real, this "reform" is a piece of shit, that will keep on giving fits and aggravation to the Democrats for years. This is just stupid shit that won't amount to anything. If you want to "do something" start a petition that would reform the "reform".

19. I signed that when it first came out...
:D

There was some R newbie jughead that is a Teabbagger Dr elected, (forgot his name/district/state), that wanted to know why he couldn't have Gov't sponsored health care immediately, it was "what am I going to do until the end of February?". I would normally find this to be the usual GOP hubris, but the fact this clown is a physician, that has access to all kinds of healthcare through professional contacts, and can most likely easily afford the insurance he is carrying now. It is the astonishing hypocrisy of these people that needs to be pounded into the noggins of the electorate. This guy campaigned against health care reform, even though he would profit from it...:eyes:

20. Andy Harris from Maryland who beat Frank Kratovil. Kratovil was actually
one of those cowardly Democrats who instead of running on the good things from the HCR bill, capitulated to Harris, who actually WON because he ran on repealing the law.

Kratovil is the only Democratic incumbent who was defeated in Maryland. Why? Because he was won of those Blue Dog cowards in the state. All of the Blue Dog Democrats were defeated in the state of Maryland, thank God. It took us a few election cylces, but we finally got rid of Al Wynn. Kratovil is another one.

21. Ah yes, that's the one...
I took special notice initially because I had family in MD years ago. Smithsburg to be exact. My Aunt Edith was a retired teacher, and she took me to Antietam and Gettysburg one Summer, describing the battles as if she were there at the time. My uncle had all kinds of CW memorabilia in the house they lived in, and I found out later that the house, (before they bought it), was a station on the Underground RR. There was a small space, hidden in the basement where escaping slaves could hide.

MD is a beautiful state...I've always wanted to live there...:D
