Despite uproar, TSA boss won’t bend on pat-downs
http://news.bostonherald.com/news/regional/view/20101122despite_uproar_tsa_boss_wont_bend_on_pat-downs/srvc=home&position=also

Airport body scans and intrusive pat-downs are here to stay, the head of the Transportation Security Administration insisted yesterday, as the controversial new measures continued to prompt widespread mockery and criticism.

“We are not changing the policies,” TSA chief John Pistole told CNN. He modified his statement later in the day, saying TSA will work to make them “minimally invasive.”

Pistole’s squirming came as the issue dominated the Sunday news talk shows, and TSA-related videos flew across the Internet.

Saturday Night Live’s inevitable spoof likened the agency to a sex hot line in a fake infomercial: “The TSA: It’s our business to touch yours,” said the SNL voiceover as faux TSA agents gyrated provocatively to sleazy elevator music.

1. And later in the day to politico he said they were open to review
and Clinton said she's never submit.

In bureocratese they are starting to walk this back, if my tea leave readying is correct.

I used to do the POI game, so I have come to translate it. If there is not much pushback from the political class (we really don't matter) they will start to go back on this... I mean you do not want to be accused of ... being soft on terror.

Sad reality, right?

2. he's a baldfaced liar
I saw him make a public statement that there were no fines for declining the screening and leaving the airport, and just yesterday the TSA comes out and confirms their $11,000 (!!!) fine.

I look forward to the day he is collecting unemployment and hope that day arrives swiftly.

3. I predict he has the rug pulled out from under him very soon despite his eagerness to please his
overlords and finds himself jobless.

4. statement by Pistole on Politico...
Here is the full text of the statement from Pistole, a former deputy director of the FBI:

"We welcome feedback and comments on the screening procedures from the traveling public, and we will work to make them as minimally invasive as possible, while still providing the security that the American people want and deserve. We are constantly evaluating and adapting our security measures, and as we have said from the beginning, we are seeking to strike the right balance between privacy and security.

“In all such security programs, especially those that are applied nationwide, there is a continual process of refinement and adjustment to ensure that best practices are applied and that feedback and comment from the traveling public is taken into account. This has always been viewed as an evolving program that will be adapted as conditions warrant, and we greatly appreciate the cooperation and understanding of the American people.

“We cannot forget that less than one year ago a suicide bomber with explosives in his underwear tried to bring down a plane over Detroit. The terrorists allegedly behind the thwarted cargo attempt last month are out there bragging about how they will strike again.

“We all wish we lived in a world where security procedures at airports weren't necessary, but that just isn't the case."

6. that is the balloon
and I have not seen any GOP ack ack yet... so if they don't get much pushback they will get clearer on it. Aka no need for us to translate the damn smoke signals.

8. It's just so much bullshit, once again. We shouldn't forget that less
than a year ago a suicide bomber had explosives in his underwear, huh? Okay, Mr. Pistole, so for eleven months you didn't keep us safe by checking everyone's underwear, but now suddenly it's imperative that you do. Does he really think we're stupid enough to buy this?!?

9. Yea, I know.
If these enhanced pat downs are necessary, why didn't they start doing them after underwear bomber?
They didn't need for the naked scanners to be installed in order to do pat downs.
