Why did they let us fly so unsafely all these months?

1. Because 2 weeks ago the FLRA decided TSA workers can vote union rep
...and somebody, somewhere, wants to privati$e the contract

2. So Are You Saying That Because Someone (Who?) Doesn't Want TSA To Unionize......
they have artificially fueled this furor so as to get the American people incited enough to make the excuse for privatizing TSA?

I always thought since this controversy all came up over the last week or two that there was some other reason that they instituted this pat down and new scanner. I was concerned that the reason was terrorist related and that they had some intelligence that they were not telling us about.

But if this is about union and union busting - hmmmmm...

3. They've had privatizing on the radar for some time
Just look how the Predator Class is going after schools/teachers

They won't rest until they've scraped every last penny from our pockets

5. That has been my first guess too
...that there has been some sort of credible threat due to happen during the busy holiday flying season.

6. They didn't have nudie scanners installed in airports a year ago.

Since people who opt out face the enhanced pat downs, not many people would want to opt out.

13. So the groping serves as a threat to get you in the machine.
Not a legitimate safety measure.

8. they needed to install the machines
Until then, we were magically safe. The addition of genital groping was the result of people not wanting to use the shiny new machines... of course, magically we were all perfectly safe without the genital groping until we decided we didn't want to use the shiny new machines.

10. Had to *carefully* install and test the Money Pipeline.
Great pains were taken to ensure that as many dollars as possible flowed to Mikhail Chertoff and other cronies of Dick (The Dick) Chee-nee. Scan-or-grope coulda been in place within 15 minutes; but the money flow had to be METICULOUSLY thought out.

"These things must be done delicately..."

12. The scanners have only been recently installed in enough airports
to matter.
