Messing with the Right Wing mind.......

..... a Reagan-worshipping co-worker of mine is going to Virginia this week to visit relatives, and is flying into National Airport. She just asked me how to get to Ballston on the Washington Metro, so I gave her directions, starting with, "After you get your bags at National......"
And she said, isn't it called "Reagan Airport now?" I ignored the question, and kept referring to it as National Airport throughout my spiel. She seems genuinely pissed that I won't call it Reagan Airport.

I'm getting a kind of devlish pleasure out of all of this.

1. To mess with most Right Wing minds, you'd need a swizzle stick
And a very accurate hand. But it sounds like you struck just the right nerve for someone who no doubt delights in prattling on about "Democrat" politicians.

2. Does she say
"Democrat Party" all the time? If so she deserves it.

4. Anchor on the Weather Channel referred to it as National airport this weekend
I can't remember when I was watching the weather channel over the weekend, but the anchor definitely called it Washington National airport - I can't remember her name, either. The graphic read Reagan National Airport. I chuckled to myself at the time. :)

5. Reagan ran on the premise that Washington DC was bad
So why name an airport after a president who supposedly despised DC?

6. I NEVER say "Reagan Airport" It is and always will be National
I've corrected airport personnel as well and on almost all occasions, they have chuckled and agreed with me.

7. Tell her when she uses "Thurgood Marshal Airport" for BWI you will use "Reagan" for National
Airport. And if she slips once it is right back to "National" for you.

11. in flight simulation...
we have database files the simulators use to simulate navigational aids, lat/long, airport info, etc. I was browsing through it one day and notice about half the files were attributed to "Washington National", the other half to "Reagan Int'l". Since the line I was looking at was only for reference (like searching through the database, or the display name on the instructor station) and does not affect navigation info, I changed them all to "Washington National"- in the interest of consistency, of course. One of my co-workers noticed it a couple days later, but he doesn't have the password to do that kind of editing :)

12. Same reason I refuse to refer to CA-118 as the "Ronald Reagan Freeway".
:puke:

Or Houston-Intercontinental as "George Budh Airport". :puke:
