So the Pope thinks it is okay for male prostitutes to use condoms to prevent spreading of AIDS
but it is a-okay to give birth to a HIV positive baby. I'm trying to wrap my brain around the moral acrobatics it takes to get to where the man has arrived. I understand it has something to do with the potential for life, but if I understand my biology correctly, there is no life until the zygote is formed?

1. I guess too many hotsy-totsy bishops are getting infected from male prostitutes,
so Popey is protecting his interests. That's my take on his remarks.

2. Sheer ignorance.
A male prostitute does not have casual sex. If a customer wants a gigolo to use a condom he will oblige 100% of the time. The Pope has a 14th century mindset fo' sho'.

3. When the pope kicks his pink thong off he wants to know that his boy toy...
is wrapped and ready!

4. Subject: You can't put the genie back in the bottle.
Now that he's said it, the "dispensation" will spread, whether he intended it that way or not. Otherwise how can you figure that the customers of male prostitutes are more worthy of being protected from AIDS than any other group? 'Cause that's what it means, if this example is the only exception. I don't think the Vatican can take another hit along that line, after all the bad vibes from pedophiles operating under cover of the priesthood.

'Course in my observation, most U.S. Catholics don't observe the church's "rules" about contraception anyway. The wall is starting to crack.
