Article read on Randi Rhodes last week?
At some point last week, I want to say early last week, Randi Rhodes was reading extensively from an essay or article of some kind. The entire thesis of it was that the corporate overlords are shoveling partisan tribalism down our throats to distract us from the real danger, which is said corporatists pillaging our country every which way they can. It was very well-written and eye-opening and succinct. However, from the time I tuned in, Randi never said the name of the author. I figured she'd post it to her website, but I can't find it there either. Does anyone remember what I'm talking about, and if so, do you know the author's name or any other information? I'd love to read the whole thing.

I realize this is a vague request. In my defense, I was driving home after a long day of work the day I heard it and I only really remember the general thesis of it.

2. Hey thanks.
I promise I'm not that technologically challenged. But you are right and I did find it - looks like it was earlier than last week.

Here's the article if anyone's interested, "A Recipe for Fascism" by Chris Hedges. It's probably one of the most important articles I've read in years.

14. Sorry for the delay.
I assumed this post would quickly sink into oblivion once I got a good answer, so I ignored it until now. I didn't get any virus warnings from that site, so this is all news to me. I've been a DU member since 2004, so I certainly wouldn't post a virus on here!

4. Hi there....
I opened your post and got all sorts of red flashing lights stating that your URL was a virus!

My programmer son was here and I said get over here and tell me what to do! I had never seen such a flashing red thing stating that the site was a virus before. He did the clearing and what not to be done and was panicked in a way.

It was my son who wrote that your site was a virus--I just wanted to say to you that he is a programmer and he noted that it was a dangerous URL.

I didn't want to scare the heck out of you, but my son said IT IS A VIRUS! and everyone had to be notified.

I'm sure dig is a good site but maybe it was compromised in some way. Anyway, I'm sure you had no idea that the site was compromised and the warning was to other viewers to not click onto it.

I'm sure you are a good DUer and didn't mean to put up a compromised URL.

:hi:

10. No, I had no difficulties at all. I saw your other postings on it, but had nothing
here. I also have Firefox checking for reported attack sites, etc. I run Linux, maybe Norton saw something I did not. I'll be curious if you discover what it was all about with the virus warning you got.

9. It's interesting that your OP is getting unrec'd.

I wonder if it's the article or Randi Rhodes?

Seriously, Randi is doing some great radio. Thom and Cenk seem to have sold out to further their careers.

13. I don't get the radio wars.
I've loved Randi for years. I'm lucky enough to be in an area that gets Randi on regular AM radio so I can listen to her without satellite or subscription. She ain't perfect; sometimes she can be a bit too much of an Obama apologist, but it's still therapeutic (and educational) for me to listen to her! People can unrec to their heart's content.

16. I did not intend to start any radio wars, as there are so few progressive voices to begin with.
I suppose my disappointment (or misunderstanding?) of some progressives on the radio, particularly Thom, has left me feeling a bit betrayed, and I may be lashing out unfairly. I don't know, yet.

Randi has good instincts and clearly researches her material well. No BS and she's fearless! I feel that this is what makes her stand out. Plus, she has good cross-over appeal. Just my take.

I could say the same about Thom if he didn't seem so damned eager to jump on the RW-Huffpo-MSM bandwagon to take down the Dems, especially leading up the midterms. This undoubtedly contributed to progressive voter malaise, or at least it did in my neck of the woods. I imagine that moderates were especially confused. I wonder if he ever considered that losing the House meant that critical committee chairmanships would go to Repubs. This will make progressive policies so much harder to pass. Is this what he wanted? If so, why? I mean, why promote progressive causes and then undermine the very efforts necessary to implement them? I will continue to subscribe to his podcast, but, damn, I sure do hope that he has some bigger, long-range plan that, perhaps, I am just too dense to understand.

17. Oops my wording was off.
I didn't mean you were starting any radio wars, but that on DU there always seems to be dueling factions for each of the very few progressive radio voices out there. Seems counterproductive to me. I love Randi for all the reasons you listed. I'm not terribly familiar with Thom, so I'll have to take your word for it. I do know that some progressive/liberal radio personalities are just about complaining, which is why they always do better when the opposing ideology is in power (kind of like how the right-wing media flourished in the '90s when Clinton was in office).

18. No worries. I get what you were saying.
I tend to agree that they'll be progressive hosts willing to default into whining. I guess I'm guilty of the same, in that I'm whining about their whining. Ha!

Have any progressive radio recommendations? Even though I live in a major metro region, I can only get RW radio, so I have to podcast liberal shows. I don't mind doing so, since I'm always happy to support them. Currently, I have Stephanie Miller, Randi, Sam Seder and Thom. I'm looking to add one more, but I want someone who does their homework and not get wrapped up in MSM drama/spin. Any suggestions are appreciated.

15. K&R for Chris Hedges.

And no worries, truthdig.com is certainly not a virus, contrary to someone's absurd claim.
