I hit the Daily Double today (TSA)

I flew out from Detroit Metro, and was a little apprehensive about the latest TSA procedures, as well as what I expected would be very long lines.

There were no lines at all. When I approached the x-ray equipment, I could see that they were using full body scanners and had already determined that I wanted to go that route...just to experience it, given the hype and rancor.
The 'photo' took about 5 seconds. When I came out, apparently the handkerchief in my pocket was enough to raise a question, so the TSA agent asked me to step aside and said he was going to have to perform a secondary patdown search. That took all of about 20 seconds and was done quite professionally. In fact, I gotta' say, they were the most polite group of people I have encountered at the airport in a long time. I don't know if they have been briefed or coached to be overly polite, but I left with no negative feelings at all.

down anyway after it?

Encourage acceptance of the erosion of rights. Maybe our kids won't remember a time when they weren't frisked regularly. That oughta make it easier on them...

8. Well, regarding the radiation...

You're going to be getting a lot more radiation in the flight than you are from the scanners. Something like one jaunt through the scanner equals eight minutes in the air.

That part of the argument is a dead issue. The privacy and invasive search issues are the real problem.

I believe it is out of UC Santa Barbara. The wrote the White House about their findings...

I am not too worried about the radiation either... But I prefer not having it FORCED on me.

Civil liberties is the heart of the issue. I don't see how this policy isn't in violation of our basic rights. I want to see some lawsuits. Pronto.
