Fat Planet: Top 10 Fattest Countries 2010 (US #8)
http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/health/101119/fat-top-10-obese

Obesity is generally measured by a person’s body mass index (BMI), which is a weight-to-height ratio. A BMI of 25 is considered overweight; 30 is obese.

Here is the GlobalPost list of the world's fattest countries, based on the percentage of the population with a BMI over 25, according to the World Health Organization:

1) Nauru: 95 percent

2) Micronesia: 92 percent

3) The Cook Islands: 92 percent

4) Tonga: 92 percent

5) Niue: 84 percent

6) Samoa: 83 percent

7) Palau: 81 percent

8) United States: 79 percent

9) Kiribati: 77 percent.

10) Dominica: 76 percent

Others:

Kuwait: 75 percent

Argentina: 75 percent

Mexico: 73 percent

Australia: 71 percent

Egypt: 70 percent

Greece: 70 percent

Belarus: 67 percent

United Kingdom: 66 percent

I for one could be at 0% body fat and be well into overweight category - near obese even. Likely same for anyone to whom the word dumbell does not sound like an insult.

Overweight I am. Obese too - but bmi is not the metric to say so.

Details if you care - I weigh 271 and measured at 31% bodyfat by doctor. That means 187 at the impossible and unhealthy 0%bf. That would be 26.9 bmi at 5'10". At a more healthy and realistic 7% I would be 201 or 28.9.
