'Sarah Palin's Alaska' Ratings Plummet In Week 2

"Sarah Palin's Alaska" set a TLC ratings record when it debuted to 5 million viewers last week, but the second episode showed a huge drop-off in viewership.

Episode two of the Palin reality show averaged just 3 million viewers, down 40% from the previous week.

Perhaps more troubling are the viewer demographics. The show averaged just 885,000 viewers in the advertiser-friendly 18-49 demo, and the median age of the show's viewer is a whopping 57 years old. According to The Live Feed's James Hibberd, that's 15 years older than TLC's median age of 42.

15. I really don't know but the snippet I saw sure seemed to look like it. . .

After all the kerfuffle about her getting too close to the bears in violation of the rules of the area they and the bear were supposedly "fishing in" together, there was some speculation among a few bloggers that the scene was faked. It seemed that way to me, too, but I have no evidence for it other than my own eyes.

considering the presumed proximity of the bear, it didn't look big enough to be an adult.

at the least it was VERY poor parental protection. the boat was not even pointed away from the bears and the mama bear (no, i don't mean caribou barbie) didn't seem too concerned about potential danger to her cubs.

imo, any other parents would have been slapped with a reckless endangerment charge by now.

Cake Boss was re-signed for a second season after averaging 2.3 Million viewers and is averaging 1.8 Million viewers in season 2.

9. I read on another site that they actually had to use a stunt double to show "Sarah" fishing.

Seems Klondike Barbie doesn't really know all that much about that. Supposedly, there were several local witnesses.

It's very carefully edited to make it appear that she knocked down those clays but if you pay close attention all she's really doing is standing there holding a shotgun.

I can believe that Palin's status as celebrity is enough to draw in a lot of viewers...but I could also believe that the show is as dull and repetitive as she is.
