Imprisoned congressman champions prison reform

Randy Cunningham, who tried to play hide-the-money with real estate, says from prison “I didn’t know jack weenie about what people were going through in here” and that real reform is needed.

I agree. Our prisons do need reform. And once Wall Street investment bankers and hedge fund traders start going to prison (the recent FBI raids are a promising sign) then I expect the calls for reform to increase.

While “a conservative is a liberal who has been mugged”, the opposite is also true – a liberal is a conservative who has been arrested (or jailed.)

1. While I understand the point of posting this about prison reform, I would say it applies to the vast
majority of lower- and middle-class experience. So many of them don't know what it's like out here.

2. Hmm perhaps we should force
every person that either runs or votes republican to live on 30k a year for a while give them a new perspective on life.

8. Beat me to it. If we could somehow make them middle class, I
have a feeling they would want to do more for the middleclass.

3. It takes a prisoner to fix the prison system.
Obviously no one on the outside is going to do it.

4. Almost every problem is like that. If you've never been in
a certain situation you have no idea what it's really like. That's one of the reasons so many congressmen vote against unemployment and many other things. They've never been in dire straights and have no idea what it's like.

5. So true, I'd love to see a Senator try to live the life of a homeless person.
Walk in their shoes for a mile or few years. See how crazy they get.

7. I wouldn't even take it THAT FAR. I'd like to see all of them
live on unemployment wages for at least 3 months. See just how far that $$ goes!
