Hey rethugs...how's that "Irish Miracle" working out for ya?
I used to hear folks like Neil Boortz and other right-wingers going on and on about the so-called "Irish miracle" as some sort of vindication that lower taxes and deregulation was a good thing. I believe Boortz even used Ireland as an example of his "Fair Tax" could revitalize the economy. Don't ask me exactly how, I just remember how they used to always point to the "Irish Miracle".

So...how's that "Irish Miracle" working out now?

2. Wasn't Bush credited with some kind of education miracle in the 2000 campaign?
Maybe pukes have different dictionaries in which miracle = debacle or some such thing.

4. The miracle was that the claims of reducing dropouts in Houston were never checked by the MSM
Reducing the dropouts was really easy; they simply stopped counting them.

One particularily tough high school in Houston cut its dropouts to zero.

But nobody in the MSM checked until the election was long over.

7. I'm a product of a "mixed" marriage. My dad - an IRA man from the Republic
of Ireland and my mom was from Northern Ireland.

I wonder how my relatives in the North feel now about what is happening down below?

9. It was a pretty darn good two decades
It's not clear that this crash is going to take them back down to the pre-90's poverty, so in that sense it would have "done its job".

Compare Ireland 20 years ago to Ireland today. 20 years ago it was a wreck. Third world infrastructure. People heating their homes with peat moss. My grandmother finally got an indoor toilet in the 70s. People are much richer now, even with the crash. Also a generation of children did not have to emigrate in order to make a living. Now the average person lives so much better, better healthcare, better education, nicer cars. They can take vacations. Electronics. (Not too many TVs when I was a kid in the 70s). All the sort of things a first world country has. Yet you condemn them for it.

The inability to make a living is why I exist. Back in the 50s my parents had to come here in order to make a living. My dad owned a small trucking business (a truck). He had plenty of business but people could not afford to pay him. So he left. No job, not knowing too many people. Found a job as a mechanic which made him richer than anyone who stayed. My mom was younger and left also.

I do not know which Irish person did you wring, but blind hatred and bigotry is not the sort of thing we value around here.
