So while all the focus is on what is happening INside the airport, the planes are right out there within several hundred feet of crappy fences that vehicles can go right thru.
Just watched our local news and they had the report below. They showed video from right outside the fence..500 feet inside that fence is a working runway.
This past summer a pickup truck driver trying to evade arrest went thru the perimeter fence and was on the loose for a long time before caught. Given that, the station looked into perimeter safety.

And experts say what happened this summer exposed a vulnerability found at airports across the country.
New air traffic control tapes also show that pilots on the ground — their planes loaded with passengers — were unsure of what to do during the August incident.

But in every case except the one caught on tape, records show police either didn't know when the vehicles went in, when they came out, or how long they were inside the fence.

In the course of reporting this story, News 8 shot video, on three occasions at a location no more than 500 feet from an active runway at Love Field.
