LADIES-- leave the underwires in the check in bags. She got nukes AND felt up because the underwire set some damn thing off, what bullshit. My daughter just went through normal metal detector/shoes off security, but the guy in front of her got singled out.

1. my father in law wasn't wearing underwear when they told him to take off his pant's belt!
so the whole security area got a full frontal and he got carted off like a prisoner. This man is in his 90s!

3. WTF!
This is getting a little scary. I had stayed out of the conversations because i fly very rarely. But the treatment, in the stories being told, is beyond what could even be necessary and certainly beyond acceptable.

I am dreadfully sorry for your FIL. :-(

into a private area that is not in public view.

I searched and ACLU has a report form for abuses.
Do you think he would fill it out?

41. Agents shouldnt assume everyone wears underwear.
I don't always wear panties, and I've known plenty of people that consider underwear optional.

2. I have an artificial ankle
and that is a guarantee that my vagina and breasts are fair game to some dip-shitty moran working for the TSA. (They will not keeping this to airports if they are not stopped).

I get singled out to be sexually molested because I have a medical condition. Fuck them.

Logic tells me they will be up in our vaginas and rectums next. All it will take it some crazy son of a bitch putting something he thinks maybe explosive up his bum and they have you bent over. But I know you are cool with this and trust their judgement because you want to feel safe.

8. Lol, well then, maybe you should consider
joining the nofly movement. I think the sooner we do it, and the larger the numbers, the sooner we can end this insanity. Here is a link to one site that is urging people not to fly unless absolutely necessary:

We Won't Fly

9. most underwire bras these days aren't metal
But hard plastic. They might have started this change because of metal detectors but also because of issues of rust... and maybe issues of expense. Some bra companies still use the metal or plastic coated metal and maybe only in certain styles where the thicker and bigger hard plastic ones wouldn't work. Plenty of non-metal underwire bras can be obtained though.

I'm not getting why a metal pants zipper wouldn't set off the metal detector yet metal underwires would especially the big heavy metal zippers on the average pair of jeans... that's a lot more metal than the underwires. Or maybe it's the combination of metal zippers AND the underwires that makes enough metal to make the detector react? That's a ridiculously now level of metal to be setting off the detector... they need to dial down the sensativity of the detectors if this is the case.

25. I've noticed that some are more wired than others.
I have a certain style I wear when I fly. I went through a version of the pat down because I wore an underwire that included wires on the side, so ever since then, I wear a bra that only has underwire in the cups.

I've also been through the full body scanner twice over the summer at the Atlanta airport. I was wearing the less-wired underwire and had no problems.

this is theater and it gotta go...

It is NOT making us safer.

Now here is a real boy scout with a real threat... not that you will find this boy scout at the local airport...

14. What would you say if we didn't scan people and then there was a bomb?
Please tell me you would not criticize the TSA for "not doing enough".

It occurs to me that there are a few horror stories that we keep hearing, but that millions of scans have proceeded without incident. The trouble is, that isn't news. The bad events are news. So, all we hear about are the bad events. So, we overreact to the situation, sometimes even writing things like "it is NOT making us safer", which is patently false.

Sorry, I don't get it. You want safety, you pay the price.

18. What happens if you walk down the street and a bomb
goes off in a trash can?

You didn't HAVE to walk down that street. You could've stayed home. Should we put the damned scanners on every street corner?

I need to buy stock in these things. Whoops, except I don't have a portfolio. OK, you rich people should buy stock in them. Oh? Yes, you're already on that.
Of course.

Your analogy does not make sense to me. Why is a street like an airplane?

"You rich people"? Do you mean me? I'm 61, unemployed for six years, draining my savings fast. Where did you get the idea that I was "rich"?

Actually, don't bother responding to this post, because I'm done with this conversation. Have a nice day! :)

24. The thing is, something bad can happen anywhere, not just on a plane.
Oklahoma City? Mumbai?

Where do we say enough is enough and stop living in fear? There are bad people in the world, and sometimes they will kill people. That's no reason to treat ordinary people going about their business like criminals.
