Obama has done everything he can to bail out...

...the corporate/capitalist system. He hired Larry Summers and Tim Geithner for Wall Street's sake.
The irony is that these same corporate capitalist powers, especially following Citizen's United decision by the SCOTUS, have turned on him full tilt.

What did he expect?

Here he is doing everything he can to make sure the big boys make their profits, to make sure the insurance companies have the only seat at the health care table, and all the while being called "socialist", "communist", and "unfriendly to business".

It's an upside-down world.

BTW:
I will add that even with my criticisms of him I think it is imperative that he get reelected for one reason: SCOTUS appointments.

1. Maybe Obama was hired (groomed) by the same people who first hired Summers and Geithner?

I don't think that Obama really runs this government. Knowingly or not (I believe the former), Obama along with almost everyone in high office or any position of power and influence is selected and cultivated because they have a proven track record of loyalty and service to the system.

The system picks itself, and picks its own. Elections just add to the efficacy of that process of elite self-selection, and are necessary to public acceptance of it. But, like any such system, it suffers from the problem of "self-selection" -- ingrained flaws and tendencies that, if not corrected, will eventually prove self-destructive. It's becoming increasingly apparent that the American political and economic systems have lost much of their self-correcting ability.

10. I was one of the sizable minority of DUers, who were fed up with Lieberman and the other guy in 2000
Yes, I voted for Nader, the originator of that one-liner. But my SOLE point was to send a message to the centrists/triangulers at the DLC. That was a perfectly safe thing to do in a state like Washington, but not anything I'd have done in a swing state. I'm sure the vast majority of the other Naderites here on DU, felt exactly the same way.

Nevertheless, whenever Nader came up here, some people would froth at the mouth and HOWL at his name. I'm getting the distinct feeling that many of those howlers are now howling at Obama! Am I wrong?

12. It might as well be choreographed. It's like watching the WWE.
There are heroes and villains. Root for your side. Pay spectator prices. Pay no attention to the owners luxury box.

4. and in saving the economy he preserved the institutions and practices that led to its decline.

The banks are still running amok, awarding their executives ridiculous bonuses. GM is still building gas guzzlers. In 3 years I will be mandated to buy healthcare I probably can't afford.

So "the economy" is doing great in that the capitalist class has been allowed to maintain its stranglehold on us.

7. No one will be mandated to buy anything. You can pay the 2% surtax to cover ER care.

9. dog and pony show.

What's amazing is that people actually buy this charade about Obama being "anti-business".

How people can be so easily manipulated by the media/corporate propaganda is absolutely beyond me; I really don't understand it.
