Mythbusters' Savage: I got past TSA body scanners with 12" razor blades
Edited on Wed Nov-24-10 02:33 PM by no limit
I don't know if this was posted but Adam Savage is claiming he forgot he had 2 12" razor blades on him while flying and the TSA agents didn't notice it (video at link):

Savage says he was shepherded through the body scanner "which, for some reason, makes my penis feel really small" and, once he got to the other side, discovered something quite surprising.

While his junk had been fully inspected, the ordinary scanner/all-over body scanner tandem seemed to have missed the blades.

Savage says he was somewhat alarmed at the TSA's apparent inattention. "My tiny junk is offended," he said.

Everyone appreciates that the TSA's job is not an easy one and that it's always hard in life to judge who is worth closer inspection.

However, one can only hope that, over the Thanksgiving period, the systems do manage to at least catch up to all the 12-inch razor blades that might be passing beneath their physical and metaphorical noses.

2. If it's even true. The guy's standing up trying to entertain an audience.
Who knows if what he said even happened? Looked a lot like a standup routine to me, you know...

4. I know, but do you really think he would make this up?
He is not really a comedian and the joke wouldn't be funny if it didn't actually happen.

7. I know what you mean
We already have confirmed examples of people lying and exaggerating about their TSA experiences, so I take any personal account with a pinch of salt now.

8. Why would you not believe him?
Does he have a motive to lie? Something to gain?

5. Here he is with the razor blades...
Edited on Wed Nov-24-10 02:43 PM by Ian David

Apparently, they're for a foam-cutting machine.

Something like these...

Blades and Knives for cutting foams, insulation materials and textiles
For PU foam converters, textile and packing, we supply cutting blades and knives suitable for many machines including A. Baumer, Fecken Kirfel, Sunkist, Parken, Wintech and many other makes.

9. I have blades like that...
I use them for cutting upholstery foam. They are used with an electric carving knife. Two blades, rigid, sharp as razors. Third style down in your pic. They would do deadly damage to a body if wielded with anger.

10. how does one keep 12" razor blades
Edited on Wed Nov-24-10 03:42 PM by veganlush
"on him" and forget about it? Maybe carrying 12" razor blades on oneself in a way that one can "forget" about is a recipe for "tiny junk" ?
