2. I got a gluten allergy
so I will be doing the apple pie interior with strussel layers and a pumpkin pie. both gluten free.

I got no choice if I want desert!

I hate the peeling of apples though.

5. Even those of us without the allergy do better without it, so peeling those
apples will be worth it! Part of the charm of the season.

10. I just watched an episode of The Middle and the mom told the daughter (who
had wanted to begin their own mother/daughter Thanksgiving tradition of baking an apple pie from scratch, and of course they had problem after problem), and they decided that as long as they took a frozen pie out of a box and put it in the oven it could be considered "home made".

That would be me -- I have no idea what "seating" is. :7

Tell me you're at least using canned pumpkin!

11. Nah I ran out of time, and went and got a pie
will be using canned when I make it though.

And I picked one for a neighbor who is very sick and short on money, I also got them some canned goods.

4. Happy Turkey Day back at you!
I've got two pecan pies cooling in the window right now. One for hubby's family meal which we are going to tomorrow. Another for the family that is taking care of the farm for us.

Have you ever tried an alternative crust? I've seen recipes for a nut based crust that might be great with pumpkin pies. Here is a pecan one: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Pecan-Nut-Crust/Detail.aspx

Here is a macadamia nut one that one person says is good with apple pie: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Gluten-Free-Macadamia-Pie-Crust/Detail.aspx

15. Happy Thanksgiving to you and the Chief, Nadin!
No baking for me this year--my older brother and I will do Thanksgiving with my niece and her family. (Her husband is a Navy vet who last served on the Enterprise in the Gulf before he got out.) I'll just throw together an appetizer and pick up some flowers and I'm good to go.

:toast:
