"Jews will knock on your doors and if your child answers then they will take your child away."
If any group said this then they would be justifiably marginalized and told to stay away from influencing the government, and without a doubt, it would come from both sides of the aisle.
But unfortunately, these quotes are quite real. Just change the subject of each sentence to "gay".
And just as bad, the groups saying these things aren't marginalized, they influence the government at the federal level which includes lobbying of both parties and have even been involved with the White House in both the Bush and Obama Administrations.
Apply it to any other group, and it would be called "hate" by any sane person; apply it to gays and it's called being a "conservative Christian" or having "traditional values". I don't know whether that's more scary or disappointing.
