another example of tsa stupdity

When my bag was marked for inspection I was asked what that unidentified object was. I told them it was a wine decanter. I was stared at then told to step this way and they took it out for inspection! Duh...what is a decanter anyway?

Let's just say that TSA uses pizza boxes to advertise for workers and leave it at that.

because I had a garden gnome in my bag.

but the fact is that since they couldn't see what it was and they couldnt understand the answer is what sends shivers up the spine.

6. A really stupid thing

happened several years ago to a coworker traveling with me. The guy had lost his wallet, so he had to use his U.S. passport for an ID. The TSA inspector opened the passport, read something, and said it was no good. "I can't accept this ID! This is NO GOOD! No Sir, you do NOT have an acceptable ID!" he said. A supervisor was called. Turned out what the inspector was looking at was some random page that had an expired foreign visa. The passport itself had many years left.

Evidently there were people in the TSA who couldn't tell the difference between a passport and a visa. I blame the training staff for this ignorance.

7. I got wanded at the Kansas City airport a couple of years ago

The TSA agent ran the wand across my shirt pocket and it went off. That is where I keep my chipped passport when traveling. I had had it for a little over a year. He didn't know the new passports would set off the metal detectors. After a year plus, the was no excuse for the so-called TSA security not knowing. I wrote it off as getting what you pay for. He wasn't a kid either.
