America's women must have our tits prodded in public...
as Osama Bin Laden laughs.

Face it: success beyond his wildest dreams.

1. Especially difficult for those of us who have suffered sexual abuse/assault.
I'm not saying others have it easy with these shameful tactics; but I honestly can't imagine I'll ever fly again. Just the thought of the "choices" I'll have to face makes me ill. :(

2. You got it
100+ years from now they'll be talking about how OBL wanted to make the US turn on itself, and the US complied...

It is tragic what has occurred.

7. He knows (knew) us far better than we know ourselves..
"If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle."

8. My point was a bit obtuse.
The effects of 9/11 are a culmination of multiple actions, and IMO, have reached this end point more through the intentional policies set by last mal-administration than by OBL's prescience.

11. I agree completely..
And OBL knew what Bush wanted to do, it was really no secret, both of them got exactly what they wanted to have, the best tool they could have, the ROI for the modest effort is quite literally astronomical.

It's a lot easier to get your enemy to do what he wants to do than to change his mind.

OBL moved(s) in circles a lot nearer Bush than most of us, he had the inside skinny.

Wasn't this one of the Bin Laden threats he video taped?

9. "What kind of man allows his mother, wife or daughter to be touched by a stranger in public?"
Edited on Wed Nov-24-10 10:28 PM by Mika
That was a question asked of me by a dear physician friend of mine today in an email, a Muslim, who lives in Jordan.

I don't know what to say in response.

What can I say?

Any ideas?

Thanks.

22. you need to learn to separate
the fact that the dear dr.s own religious cohorts are the ones who set up this situation,

and the friggin evil in our own midst (republicans, tea pissers, defense contractors, corporate lobbyists, dollar worshipers) who exploit the justifiable fear of the public being blown to bits by the dear dr.s own religious fanatics.

on the one hand you have those who, stupidly, ignorantly and singlemindedly, promote their own god view, and then you have those who will eagerly exploit anything and everything, for a buck.

ALL religion is a cancer on a civilized society because it invariably tries to establish religious levels of rightness, when there are none.

ALL worshipers of riches are a cancer on a civilized society because, until we have enough riches for all to benefit from, those who have will take from those who don't.

we need to eliminate both.

18. I was going to mention that in the OP -- the lack of
chivalry about all this. Fathers, sons, husbands -- where are their voices in all this? Brave of you to bring it up, imo.

19. My "man" doesn't "allow" much of anything with me. He knows I'll get frisked and figures I can take
care of myself. "what kind of man allows his wife to be touched by a stranger in public"? Did you seriously write that here on DU? Good grief, I thought we were past having our Men allowing things about our Women.

How about saying everyone gets frisked (though you can say groped if you wish). Also that Men allowing Women things isn't how we do it here.

What about those poor women who don't have A Man to protect her? They need to stay home!

sorry, language rant, but still, hoping you get the point about "allow".

13. Julie Benz agrees: "If you want to feel me up, feel me up"

'Dexter' Star Julie Benz Welcomes TSA Pat Downs
By Hollie McKay

Many have expressed outrage at the new Transport Security Administration (TSA) scanning procedures, which involve subjecting flyers to a full-body pat down or full-body imaging scanner before boarding a flight. But “Dexter” starlet Julie Benz isn't complaining.

"The TSA employees are doing their job,” she told Pop Tarts. “I'd rather be felt up then have somebody get on a plane with a bomb.”

Benz also argued that while the decision to implement the new procedures may not be ideal, it is pivotal in this day and age. “I think right now, unfortunately we live in a time where security on flights is very important. They're working it out. Is this the right choice? Who knows, but it is a choice, and I'd rather be safe then sorry,” she said. “If you want to feel me up, feel me up."....

16. So? Why should her opinion matter? Because she has big tits?
Please. Isn't this that twit who talks about her boobs all the time? Why do you think she was so happy to answer the question in such a way? Same reason someone bothered to ask some two-bit actress a question about civil liberties, and probably, I daresay, the reason you thought it was relevant to not only quote her but to post her picture as well. :eyes:
