One TSA Agent arrested in Orlando - but not for what you think...
Edited on Wed Nov-24-10 10:04 PM by Hawkeye-X
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - A TSA agent has been arrested and charged with lewd and lascivious molestation of a minor after police say he tried to keep a girl as a sex slave. Police arrested 57-year-old Charles Bennett of Winter Garden on Friday. A 15-year-old girl was the one who reported him to police.

According to reports from the Orange County Sheriff's Office and the Orange County Jail, the 15-year-old victim confided in her caregivers that Bennett had touched her inappropriately three years ago when she was 12. She says he also asked the young girl to be his "sex slave," an accusation investigators say Bennett admitted to in a written statement to police.

Reports say he also admitted to grabbing the girl's breasts from behind and soliciting her to be his sex partner. We went to Bennett's home in Winter Garden to talk with his wife about the allegations, she wasn't home. At this time, police are not saying what the relationship is between Bennett and this young girl.

1. So, a TSA agent is also a sex crime perp. What a surprise that
he was allowed to get this job. :sarcasm:

2. Actually I am
given that they do have a pretty strict background check...

That said, even if he did not admit it... he'll be out of a job. Which is a good thing... never mind I'd like to wait for the conviction.

3. And another one in GA kidnapped and raped a woman.

This is a weird story...read it all:

A TSA employee based at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport tried to kill himself after allegedly abducting a woman, sexually assaulting her then giving her a suicide note to deliver.
More Atlanta area news

MARTA police are among the law enforcement agencies investigating the claim that Randall Scott King, 49, kidnapped the woman from the Lakewood station Wednesday night. King accompanied her there from the airport where she left with him voluntarily, Hartsfield-Jackson spokeswoman Katena Carvajales told the AJC.

But King allegedly restrained the woman in the MARTA parking lot and took her to his house in Hogansville, about 50 miles south of Atlanta, where the sexual assault occurred, police there say.

"The victim stated that she was released by Mr. King who provided her with a suicide note and instructions on where to deliver it," Hogansville Police Department Sgt. Jeff Sheppard said in a press release.

4. This is an agency that recruits workers using ads on
pizza boxes. Pretty much guarantees they aren't seeking the cream of the crop.

9. I saw a post here this evening that had some anecdotal travel board comments
about traveling today. MANY reports of backscatter scanners shut down and roped off.

I am gratified to see that news. I had already personally decided, for myself, that based on flying once a quarter, I would probably grudgingly accept the millimeter wave scanner, but would absolutely decline the backscatter scanner. The letter to the TSA from the UCSF scientists expressing their many concerns about their safety, has not been responded to in any real substance. As UCSF is a highly respected research partner in the area of causes of cancer, I'm going with their evaluation.

With recent news report of CT scanner radiation overdoses, and cancer radiation overdoses, it seems to me that if hospital workers have problems with running and verifying measurements on highly precise, medical grade scanning and radiation devices, I'm not feeling comfortable with how these apparati are maintained and operated by Federal semi-law enforcement

training of the people who operate the backscatter scanners. Each state has its own laws regarding the training and certification of x-ray technicians. Do the feds simply ignore those statutes? Judging by the caliber of personnel I've encountered at airport security checkpoints, I doubt they are licensed by the state. I think if TSA expects the public to accept being x-rayed as a condition of travel, they ought to be forthcoming about the qualifications (or lack thereof) of the people operating the machines. (Not holding my breath though!)

8. Have you looked at the TSA employees in the videos? To confront
terrorist:

One woman was so obese that if a terrorist had cow tipped her, she'd be down for the count.

Several had dun-lap's disease.

Most looked way out of shape, pasty and unhealthy.

Tie that to no training and I can understand the "security theater" tag.

That is definitely not SECURITY.

One of son's friends is a sheriff's deputy, big boy, BIG. He was given an optimum weight spread and six months. He is still big, lean and a machine.

I asked him about how he felt when he was given the ultimatum. He said he was angry, felt they were overstepping, treading on him, but he liked his job, so he set to work. He made the top spread in six months, but he told me he felt better about himself, looked good, and could do his job better.

It's time some type of physical standards were implemented so that if they were confronted by a terrorist, they could take control of the situation.
