We spend more on the TSA than on the National Science Foundation..
Which one do you think has saved more lives?

What do you think that says about us as a nation?

I also find it interesting that many Republicans would like to get rid of the NSF completely while privatizing the TSA.

1. It's a bad recipe for the future of this country if NSF dumped for TSA. n/t

3. Advances in science and technology are our future.
It's funny how we can't set our priorities to take advantage of this.

9. This might come out backwards, not meant to demean any workers, all are important. Generally
in a society great discoveries by a small percentage have carried a society in many ways and created lots of jobs, industries, better standards of living, etc. And often that has come from advances in science and technology. Now, it seems vogue by some to ridicule those that are good in science, math, music, etc. while in HS, and often I wonder how many brilliant minds have been destroyed in youth.

The short of what I'm saying is it's a damn foolish country and individuals that justify their personal shortcomings and greed by ignoring priorities to take advantage of and invest in science and technology for the future of the country. Other countries are walking past the US, will continue and we had best examine our priorities if we want to even be an equal player in the future.

12. I wonder why it isn't some scientist who is the billionaire instead of some Goldman Sachs exec.
It's funny how the patent system never seems to reward the true brains behind innovation, just someone who funded the thing.

15. Yeah, in many ways it's sometimes a very unfair system rewarding scheming and
greed, and the real innovator gets left out. I often think of Nikola Tesla.

14. The cost of one control panel from those invasive backscatter machines could fund one of my projects
for a whole year, or at least cover the cost of all the data I need.

16. Why, our very existence is being threatened by anus bombs
or whatever. We must get to the bottom of it, no matter the cost.
