We were watching KO late and he walked in when Bible Spice said the thing she said about North Korea. He looked at the TV, looked at me and snorted. I said, "What?" and he said, "It's SOUTH Korea who are our allies! That's dumb!"

And I'm in NY, supposedly a blue state. But the only reason for that is NYC, and I live up north. Most local elections in my neck of the woods are decided in the Republican primaries. After years of having Republican representation in Congress, we finally elected Kirsten Gillibrand in 2006, terrific rep and I got to see President Clinton in person when he came to the district to campaign for her. That was incredibly cool... :D

And when she was appointed senator to replace Hillary Clinton, we managed to elect another Democrat, one that she supported, to take her place. I worked on his campaign and it wasn't easy. He won by the smallest margin of anyone else in the House. He's not anything close to being a liberal, but he's very smart and has worked incredibly hard for the district. :)

But he was up for re-election in November and things got ugly early on. His challenger was ex-military and a teabagger. I went to their debate and he clearly won, but you'd never know it by the reaction of the red shirted teabagger disruptors there. And they were mostly senior citizens! :wow:

And my congressman lost. I worked on his campaign, this time around, too, and I just can't take it in. He voted for health care reform, which scared the senior citizens. WTF?! And he's on the Armed Services Committee, has worked very hard for veterans' rights, but he was criticized for his support of repealing DADT by his ex-military opponent... :grr:

Sorry to go on, but it hurts to see people vote against their own best interests, first hand. :banghead:

Palin....not so much.

Palin's motivation is money and anyone telling a different story is a fool. Palin is avoiding the East coast and the West coast because she only wants adoring fans.

By the way my dog the Rhodesian Ridgeback/Terriar mix is smarter than Palin. Maddie (yes, my name is based off of her being mad at all four legged creatures except our other dog Max who is on the short bus)anyhoo.....I can look in my Maddie's eyes and see the intelligence....Palin.....not so much.

When reading was being taught I was already reading simple chapter books and found the primer to be exceedingly dull. I turned my book upside down to make it more difficult. The teacher noticed and had be stand to read and I did with the book upside down, "TURN THAT BOOK OVER AND READ!" I did and thought to myself,"I can read it right side up, upside down and sideways, what's the big deal!"

I was explaining fascism and told him that we don't hear about the dumbing down of America because of our so-called "liberal" media. Then I told him that Spiro Agnew coined that phrase. So I asked him if he knew who that was and he said, at first, "Clinton's VP" and I said, "No." (told him who that was) and said, "The year I was born" and he said, "Oh, Nixon!"

Hell, grown people don't know that Nixon was president in 1970.
