For those who do not enjoy looking at the "Warning: Gruesome Video Footage" advertisement...

3. Select, Block images from...

I personally like the message in the advertisement, but I have noticed some DUers do not enjoy looking at pictures of mutilated animals.

But I don't worry about seeing the ad part for a brief moment while I click on the 'lobby' button. It's a good conscience and constant reminder for me. Keeps that fire burning under my butt. Everyday I think of all the creatures great and small.

Thanks for the tip on how to get rid of an image though. Very helpful.

5. adblock plus and noscript make browsing much cleaner.

i forget that DU and most other sites even have ads until a post like this comes up.

11. I'm absolutely at a loss why Skinner insists on running that particular gruesome

and gratuitous image. The message in the ad is ok, the image is NOT. (I actually personally know people who QUIT USING DU because of the gruesomeness of that particular a.)


Seriously, the image is absolutely horrendous, gratuitous, and... There is NO REASON for it. Keep the ad, replace the image.

15. When I switched to Firefox, I did notice this message on the ad.

Clicked on it and 'poof, gruesome picture gone. The wording remains but that dos not draw my eye.
The picture is too nasty to be subjected to each time you check out DU.

BTW. After years of IE, Firefox has been a godsend. Wish I did it sooner. I was amazed the process even switched all my IE info like 'Favorites' (bookmarks to FF) in the very easy process.

17. I've employed every possible means to avoid seeing that photo.

I haven't looked at it directly, sensing it was unbearable without actually seeing it. I did read the message once.

I recall it has been here another time, and I feared it would never go away. So deeply sad to see it's back.

Thank you for suggesting a way for those of us with Firefox to help ourselves.
