I had this horribly gruesome and vivid nightmare of sarah palin beating a halibut.

I can't erase the visual in my mind - it haunts me. I keep reminding myself it was just a dream. It didn't really happen.

Hold me. :scared:

PS - a couple years ago I had a similar nightmare, that sarah palin gave a news conference with turkeys being slaughtered in the background. I'm so glad that would never really happen. Whew!

3. I didn't see it, but I feel like the halibut was a symbolic stand-in
for a baby seal.

Or a hippy.

Take your pick.

Palin seems to have an unfailing genius (if you roll your eyes like that, they may get stuck) for a kind of perverse, conservative contrarianism--if it makes or is perceived to make the "The Left" unhappy, then she is all for it. So if clubbing a halibut is perceived as cruel to some? She's a-gonna club the heck out of it, you betcha!

And so it goes with her business about eating god's tasty critters and being against Michelle Obama's initiative on preventing childhood obesity. Maybe it's almost maddeningly familiar to our own childhoods to have a parent stand over us while we eat our veggies or yell at us to go play outside for some fresh air--not a weird, alien mindset at all! But if Michelle Obama is for raising healthy kids, Sarah Palin is agin' it.

4. It was purposely filmed to show the audience what Palin would do as CIC (i.e., CEO) of the
U.S. military to Russia, Iran, Al-Qaeda, and other "terrorists". If she would easily beat a defenseless fish, imagine what she would do to "enemies".

At least that's what I think she was trying to get across.

15. I only hope this can be analogous to Rocky III
In that classic film (lol - the irony of anything with Stallone and "classic" being in the description is not lost on me!), Rocky gets the ever-loving crap kicked out of him by Clubber Lang (Mr. T) in the first fight - the Rethugs for our tortured analogy here.

He then returns to his roots and learns all new training and approaches from Apollo Creed before beating the ever-loving shit out of Lang in the rematch.

PLEASE, PLEASE. PLEASE allow the mid-terms to be Obama's first fight with Lang/Rethugs....now all we need is him to return to his roots and learn some new tactics before the rematch....paging Dr. Dean!

5. I used to fish for halibut from an 8' boat in a harbor in California.
I caught one that was three feet long one day. I was glad to have a hammer on board the boat, or it would have beaten a hole in the bottom of my tiny boat. Halibut get knocked on the head if you're going to keep them. That's how it works. I detest Sarah Palin, but I do love eating freshly-caught halibut. Better to kill it with a blow to the head than have it flop around in the boat until it dies, I think.

I eat meat. I eat fish. They are killed before I eat them. There it is.

9. I used to catch eels in California. Good eating.
They weren't really the eels people think of, though. Monkey-faced blenny eels. Caught a 4' wolf eel once, too. Ugly as a stump, but delicious.

I don't think I'd film the process of killing them, though. Don't see the point.

These days, I'm a catch and release angler. I haven't kept a fish for years. I just tell 'em, "Catch ya later," and turn 'em loose.

13. Halibut can be enormous, and I guess you have to bonk them on the head
which is more humane then letting them flop themselves to death. And they are good eating. But the disgusting thing about Palin is not that she whacked a halibut on the head, but that she actually seems to like killing, or maybe it's that she likes being photographed or filmed killing so her knuckle-dragging fans will see how tough she is.

14. Palin is a consummate moron. What she does has nothing
whatever to do with how people fish and hunt. She's just playing for the freaking camera.

16. Exactly. But she's worse than a mere moron.
She's a grifter who's conning her "base" (apparently successfully) into thinking she really hunts and fishes. And that this proves she's tougher than those wimpy Democrats.

10. Yesterday I dreamed she was in a Thanksgiving Day Parade
Honest to god it was just yesterday morning that I had the dream.

Palin was on her own parade float. She was saying how she could see Washington D.C. from her float. Then she abandoned the float halfway through the parade to run back to Alaska.

The parade was in Denver - we live just west of there.

:scared: Indeed.

12. This is how i is done
When I was halibut fishing in Alaska this is how it was done with smaller halibut. Larger ones are shot in the head and tied to the side of the boat. Halibut are large fish and cannot be allowed to flop around the boat suffocating.

22. Actually, I'd pay money to see that.
There wouldn't be much left but a pair of glasses and some fake bouffant hair. Not that I'd really wish for anyone to be eaten by a huge bear. No, I wouldn't do that...

26. That halibut video and the turkey video is what happens to our food
before we get that meat at the market all nice and neatly wrapped in plastic. Why Sarah wants to be photographed as a participant in this is beyond me, but maybe we are worse than her because we don't want to know. It does speak to what a cold and calculating person she is.
